Maybe.

Craig Carton (0:01)

Carton Show, Big Mac, Jets take one on the chin. The Chicago Bears yesterday had more first downs than the New York Jets ran plays. 34 to 32, let that sink in, but Big Mac wanted to comment on my take about the exciting start for the New York Giants at three and one.

Chris McMonigle (0:18)

Well, I mean, I'm not gonna get angry, I'm not gonna yell at you.

Craig Carton (0:20)

Nor should you, you're three and one.

Chris McMonigle (0:22)

Yeah, three and one.

Craig Carton (0:23)

First place.

Chris McMonigle (0:24)

Look.

Craig Carton (0:25)

First time in 11 years.

Chris McMonigle (0:26)

This is a team that's got James Winston throwing the ball all over the place. Like, the James Winston experience is real. And at least we got to see some of the good part of it. But you've got a backup quarterback and a man who half the time has no idea where the ball is going. You've lost your best defensive player last week in Burns. And yet, the coaching showed you everything. And you're gonna talk about the other teams.

Craig Carton (0:48)

What did the coaching show me?

Chris McMonigle (0:49)

Show you a lot.

Craig Carton (0:50)

What?

Chris McMonigle (0:51)

I thought there was tons of things that the coach showed you. One, how about the... Letting the Cardinals move right down the field to take the... And then suddenly figure it out. To win the game late? And then suddenly figure it out. But they didn't let the team drive down the field to win the game late. They made the big play.

Craig Carton (1:05)

First two goals from the four.

Chris McMonigle (1:06)

What's the difference? If the interception came on the first pass or the last pass, they stopped them and won the football game. I don't care. I don't care. It's a team without its best defensive player. That's true. Absolutely. A team that was making adjustments. How about that for a coaching staff? The first two drives of the game, they go right down the field and then they put an end to that and make big plays. Arvel Reiss.

Craig Carton (1:27)

Play great.

Chris McMonigle (1:29)

After knocking him after the first week of that Monday against the Rams, what has he been lately? In this game, he's all over the place.

Craig Carton (1:35)

He's dominant.

Chris McMonigle (1:35)

Dominant.

Craig Carton (1:36)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (1:36)

Dominant in this game. You saw Carter have his most impact. So Carter goes down, the two young phenoms we're all hoping for immediately pick up the pace and get back into the backfield. Burns goes down. Yeah. Burns, what did I say?

Craig Carton (1:48)

You said Carter.

Chris McMonigle (1:48)

All good. I got you. I got you. When Paul Burns goes down, Carter and Arville Reese come out and make their most impact. You got a tight end who has no hands catching balls in contention in the end zone. I believe neighbors were concerned about. He comes through, makes a big one-on-one catch to send them down the field, gets a touchdown pass over a hundred yards receiving. I saw a lot of things in this game. I like a lot from this coaching staff and from this team. And more than anything, how about Banks, who everyone on this giant, everybody surrounding the entire universe of giant, whether it's people who work in the PR department, people with coaching staff, people around the team, and fans gave up on a first-round pick and Deontay Banks.

Craig Carton (2:26)

You included.

Chris McMonigle (2:26)

Everyone, myself included. Everyone who's watched the team gave up on this kid. And this coaching staff has now not only turned him into a competent defensive back and cornerback, but he's a guy who makes two big plays after a BS penalty. I'm not even sure. I said the same thing. Even after a BS penalty, he makes on third down a defensive stand against one of the best tight ends in the sport in a short yardage goal line situation with a much bigger guy and one of the better tight ends in the sport makes a big time play. And then on fourth down, he gets the pick six to win the game.

That's a player that other coaching staffs, the other coaching staff gave up on. This is a player we've all given up on. And he's turned him into a legitimate player in the NFL. And this team with Jameis Winston not knowing where half the balls are thrown, find a way to come back and win this game, picks at the end of the half that lead directly to three points, they overcome that, a lousy drive right out of half time, they make an adjustment, the next drive is a touchdown down the field. Like every time an adjustment needed to be made, this coaching staff made it, and every time a big play needs to be made, this team makes it. So don't give me how the coach made lousy play calling. They're at the four yard line.
