We can all agree, this is the best song to air guitar to, and karaoke to, while air guitaring. And you know, in this studio, we have a rule.
Chris McMonigle (0:15)
You think this is the best song to air guitar to?
Craig Carton (0:17)
It's the greatest air song of all time.
Chris McMonigle (0:19)
I don't know about that. It is. Come on.
Craig Carton (0:22)
We can do it together. You wanna do a little karaoke with me right here? Take it away, Big Mac!
Chris McMonigle (0:26)
Singing or air guitar?
Craig Carton (0:28)
Sing it!
Ralph (0:31)
Ah, no, no, no, no!
Chris McMonigle (0:33)
Times are changing!
Craig Carton (0:35)
There you go!
Chris McMonigle (0:37)
I forget the lyrics to that part. Right? Times are changing? Yes!
Craig Carton (0:41)
Times are changing! That's exactly right! Times are changing!
SPEAKER_3 (0:44)
I wanna be some kind of friend!
Craig Carton (0:48)
I should ask Dr. Spence, because he's a big guitar guy. You just give me a nod of the head, since you're not on a microphone. Assuming you're familiar with the live performance of Prince, with Tom Petty. I forget what the event was, but top 10 greatest guitar solos live of all time? Yes?
It was a Hall of Fame induction, is that what it was? You know the song I'm talking about, right?
SPEAKER_3 (1:13)
No. Can you get Petey to play for me?
Chris McMonigle (1:16)
What song did they play? Who were they inducting? What song did they play?
Craig Carton (1:18)
I don't know who's getting inducted, but Tom Petty went up there!
Chris McMonigle (1:21)
Was it a Tom Petty song?
SPEAKER_3 (1:22)
Was it a Prince song?
Craig Carton (1:23)
And Prince rocked out one of the greatest guitar solos live I've ever seen.
Chris McMonigle (1:27)
Oh no, so it was the concert for George?
Craig Carton (1:31)
I don't know what the concert was for.
SPEAKER_3 (1:32)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps, that's what he just told me.
Craig Carton (1:35)
Yeah, that song, that song.
Chris McMonigle (1:36)
Yeah, it's a Beatles song.
Craig Carton (1:37)
Oh, the Beatles wrote that one?
Chris McMonigle (1:38)
Well, George Harrison did, but yeah, the Beatles.
Craig Carton (1:40)
Yeah, so Prince...
Chris McMonigle (1:41)
Eric Clapton played on it.
Craig Carton (1:42)
Prince was a late addition to the group of musicians on the stage, and they didn't rehearse at all, as the legend goes. And if you listen to the last two minutes of that song, Tom Petty just keeps repeating, and my guitar, and Prince just wails. Yeah. Give me a taste, if you don't mind.
Tom ain't got nothing else to do but watch Prince play. Now, as a drummer, I love that. I love it.
Chris McMonigle (2:47)
As a drummer, you love that?
Craig Carton (2:48)
As a drummer.
Chris McMonigle (2:49)
You get to sit back and just watch Prince?
Craig Carton (2:50)
I just get to sit back, you know, keep the beat going and watch Prince do his thing. That's all.
We should start a band one day.
Chris McMonigle (2:57)
Me and you?
Craig Carton (2:57)
Yeah. Let him get others, because I only play the drums.
I can't play any other instruments. I can read music, I can play piano, but I can't play piano by sound.
Chris McMonigle (3:07)
Okay.
Craig Carton (3:08)
But I can read the music and play. You know, not perfectly.
Chris McMonigle (3:11)
No.
Craig Carton (3:12)
But you can sing, I can drum. We need a guitar player.
Pee's got the guitar, we need a bass player.
Chris McMonigle (3:18)
I think he's an Axeman, yeah.
Craig Carton (3:20)
He also plays, what are you saying, skin flute? Yeah. So he's a flutist.
Is it flutist or flautist?
Chris McMonigle (3:26)
Flautist.
Craig Carton (3:27)
Excuse me. What do you call a clarinet player?
Chris McMonigle (3:30)
Clarinet player. Good point.
Craig Carton (3:32)
I guess I knew that already. Some people call them other things.
Chris McMonigle (3:36)
Do they?
Craig Carton (3:36)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (3:37)
Like what?
Craig Carton (3:37)
I can't say it on the radio.
Chris McMonigle (3:38)
Why not?
Craig Carton (3:39)
Because I can't say it.
Chris McMonigle (3:40)
They say, people call clarinet players things you can't say on radio? Yes. That's not nice.
Craig Carton (3:45)
Yeah. They call male clarinet players and flautist for that matter, something I can't say on the radio.
SPEAKER_3 (3:52)
I'll tell you off the air.
Chris McMonigle (3:54)
They say it to their face? No.
Oh, okay. So it's behind their back. No, no, no.
Craig Carton (3:58)
