It is time for the next Vintage, brought to us by Forrester Estate, family-owned premium Margaret River Wine. Paul Heath has joined me in the studio. Very happy, Paul Heath.

Paul Heath (1:09)

Yeah, up and about. Absolutely.

It was part of the reason why the bus has had to go a different route.

Mark Duffield (1:14)

Was that you on the ride over the Cappuccino Strip?

Paul Heath (1:16)

Wasn't all me. I was just playing a role.

It was a very good role. And I haven't really seen the streets of Freemantle like that and just the absolute positivity that was getting around the place was fantastic to be a part of.

Mark Duffield (1:27)

So where did you watch the game from?

Paul Heath (1:29)

I was at the Norfolk on Friday night. I think I might go for a repeat dose on Saturday.

Mark Duffield (1:36)

Is it true that Freemantle is entirely booked out?

Paul Heath (1:40)

Yeah, apparently. I think I'm only getting a seat because my mates are managing the Norfolk. But we had control of the sound system and that, so we got hell's bells going at three quarter time, our own warfy time and that, and away we went from there.

Mark Duffield (1:53)

Beautiful, and it worked. Yeah, it worked.

Paul Heath (1:55)

We were telling everyone.

Mark Duffield (1:56)

All right. Who's your star of the future, the next generation player?

Paul Heath (1:59)

I was picking between Neil Erasmus and Matt Johnson, and I've gone with Matty Johnson. Both stood up in all the finals they've played so far, but John only had 19 disposals, three marks, six tackles, three clearances, 420 meters gained, a goal assist, five inside fifties, four score involvements, and four intercept possessions, and just tough, hard at it, and like what he gets up to.

Mark Duffield (2:19)

Yep, I've got a feeling that both Johnson and Erasmus will be okay on Grand Final Day. It's the way they play. They like the physicality. So when the opposition ups the ante, that's really playing right into their wheelhouse. So hopefully he has a big day on Saturday, and you can hear from him on Scotty and Goss for Brecky tomorrow morning.

I'm gonna go with Isaiah Dudley. I thought Isaiah Dudley, when Fremantle weren't tracking particularly well early in this game, was a long way from their worst, and he came good late, and of course he kicked the match winner late as well. So 16 disposals, two goals, three marks, five tackles, including three inside forward 52 clearances, 301 metres gained, four score involvements, and an intercept. And the tiny dancer continues to dance very well.

Paul Heath (3:09)

Let's hear his two goals, shall we?

SPEAKER_6 (3:11)

Young does the roving, got out of the tackle, released Dudley, goal side, and he simply must and does. There's Dudley with a set left for Freemantle.

SPEAKER_5 (3:22)

Ryan smashes it inside 50 Amos is there, takes it off hands, handballs to Murphy Reid, to Dudley.

SPEAKER_6 (3:30)

Freemantle are going to a grand final.

SPEAKER_5 (3:33)

Dudley from the goal square. Freemantle might just have torpedoed these chances of a grand final.

Mark Duffield (3:41)

There it was.

Paul Heath (3:42)

He's a fan favourite, isn't he? I think he gets the biggest pop at the home games when his name gets read out. He definitely gets the biggest cheer.

Mark Duffield (3:48)

Yeah, he's a bit of a cult figure. I think that's the next Vintage. Thanks to Forrester Estate, family owned, premium Margaret River wine. Enjoy 25% off online with code SEN25.
