What a weird day it's been so far. Very, very strange in our own Boomer and Gio world. Of course, this is gonna be all about the Yankees, but today we fly out to Chicago to see Boomer get inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. So it is a special day for Boomer, the radio station and the show. And we're going to be together the entire day. And Eddie Scazzeri gets an invite, of course, because he's Eddie Scazzeri, has worked here longer than all of us and worked with Boomer for a very, very long time. He decides he wants to come in early and he didn't know when this date was put out there and he was invited that it would be his favorite day, YE. Day, Yankee Elimination Day. So he showed up at 5.45 in the morning with his YE. Day shirt on, which is just incredible, the timing of that. Then I see my least favorite person in the world and my favorite person in the world sitting next to each other behind home plate Marlin's Man and Dua Lipa, which is just bizarre. I just got a text from Dua Lipa's dad that said, who is this guy?

It's unbelievable. What world am I living in? And then on top of this, the guy who gets kicked out for the interference goes to my barber in Belport. Oh, God. Yeah.

I know the guy. I don't want to say. I asked him if he wants to call in. I'm not going to dox him here because he was getting yelled at.

Gio Gonzalez (1:35)

By the way, he is all over social media. It's everywhere.

Boomer Esiason (1:39)

Yeah, but he's got a job. I don't know.

Gio Gonzalez (1:42)

I know. It's not just. I know. I'm not saying you should.

SPEAKER_3 (1:44)

Good morning, Boomer. How are you? YE.

Boomer Esiason (1:46)

Day, Hall of Fame Day, craziness. This is going to be a long but very fun day together. Good morning.

SPEAKER_3 (1:53)

What's happening?

Gio Gonzalez (1:53)

Well, thank you, G. And I got a huge hug from Eddie this morning. He is completely happy. He's got his YE. T-shirt on. And it's one of those days where now it's time to pick up the pieces and talk about really what the future holds for the New York Yankees, what it holds for Brian Casper, what it holds for Aaron Boone. And about seven or eight of these players that are on this team and where do they go from here? And that's all going to be dependent on whether or not there is a lockout after the Major League Baseball Collective Bargaining Agreement ends on midnight of December 1st. So there's still so many questions to be answered. But you know, last night's game, it was a microcosm really of the Yankee season. There were moments, a lot of moments by the younger players that did their jobs and, you know, got some key hits, a lot of bad strikeouts by the older players who have done a lot of striking out since they have been here. And of course, Max Freed, who was brought here as a pivot on the Juan Soto loss. And I thought it was a great deal. I still think it's great. And I still think Max is a great pitcher. But he wasn't great last night when he really needed to be great. And you look at some of the older players in this team, they're going to be swapped out hopefully for some new players. I would think that third base shortstop, second base is going to be a huge question. Center field is going to be a huge question. Is it going to be Spencer Jones? Is it going to be somebody else? I think right and left field are, they're going to be there. I think Lombard is going to be at short. First base situation, I don't think Goldschmidt will be back. Whether or not Garcia is back is a question. Whether or not Ramos is back is going to be a question. I think Austin Wells is going to be back, but I think maybe, you know, they'll work to get another catcher in there to help him offensively. But at the end of all of it, it's a, it was a three nothing sweep. It's a team that has a third of the payroll of the New York Yankees watching Aaron Judge in the dugout during the game is sad.

And now, now it comes time to try to fix the problem and see if they somehow could get back to the World Series because this has been the longer stretch, I think, that the Yankees have not made it to the World Series, or won a World Series, I should say, in their history. So there's a lot of questions to be answered. The question is, what does Hal Steinbrenner now want to do? Yeah. At the front office.
