The engineers and Baker Mayfield have agreed to a three-year extension for $165 million. The extension includes $110 million now in guarantees, on top of the $40 million guarantee that Mayfield is scheduled to make in 2026 The Bucs originally offered Baker Mayfield two years at $50 million, but Mayfield and his agent Tom Mills felt that the deal was too light. The New Deal averaged $55 million per season, tied the third highest in the league. You see Joe? Yeah.

He got a $33 million deal.

Chad Johnson (2:46)

Prove it.

Shannon Sharpe (2:47)

If it don't work out, you walk A. 33 ain't nothing. But you can't let it walk out the door for nothing though, Joe. See, that's what really hurts you, is that you let it walk out the door and you ain't get nothing in return for it.

Joe Burrow (2:57)

Yeah.

Chad Johnson (2:58)

Yeah, absolutely. I like what Baker did. Obviously, Unc and Joe, it was a proven season. He proved it that season with a bit, I don't want to say low ball. I'm just saying based on the starting quarterback, it wasn't a respectable number. Then they come back, they take care of him. Okay, we believe in you. Let's see with this three year no-hunting. Okay, I'll show you what I can do. I'm the heart, soul of the team. I give us a chance to win every time we go out there and compete.

Okay, now, what y'all want to do? Take care of your boy because you ain't got no answer behind him. Ain't no answers behind him.

So they had no choice. In a sense, he has the leverage, he has the power, and he understood that.

Joe Burrow (3:40)

And, hey, look, and I think...

Chad Johnson (3:42)

And before you go, Joe, him saying something, too, that's the first time I heard a quarterback have to come out and be vocal about it.

Shannon Sharpe (3:50)

It don't happen often.

Daiyan Henley (3:51)

That's the first time.

Shannon Sharpe (3:52)

Because they normally, they were like... Then they realized they ain't got no choice.

Joe Burrow (4:00)

Right.

Shannon Sharpe (4:01)

When you realize without a quarterback, you ain't got no chance of winning, Tampa, you already been through that.
