I was thinking yesterday, watching this jet game, and I'm like, I can't even believe that I have to go on the radio tomorrow morning and discuss what I think was one of the worst performances ever by the entire team, not just the offense, not just the defense. Ever? I'm telling you, it's one of the-

Gregg Giannotti (0:16)

It was bad, but-

Boomer Esiason (0:17)

Ever? I've never seen another team, I don't think I've ever been a part of a game where another team ran 89 plays. And basically, they took the ball with about what, nine minutes and 40 seconds or something to go in the game and just ate the entire clock up and the Jets never were able to get the ball back.

Evan Tiki (0:35)

45 seconds of possession in the fourth quarter for the Jets.

Boomer Esiason (0:37)

That's what I'm saying. So, when you look at the numbers, I mean, this is- It is a disaster for Aaron Glenn, it's a disaster for my buddy Frank, and, you know, I haven't talked to anybody, I don't want to talk to anybody, but I'm sure that today, when they reconvene you with the team, they're going to have a come to Jesus moment where they're going to have to somehow galvanize the team and everybody's got to turn off their mentions, everybody's got to put earmuffs on, nobody should be reading anything about this team at all because it is now falling back into what has been a joke of a franchise. And I don't know how else to put it. I mean, like watching this game yesterday, and I, look, I've played in games like this, I know that, you know, you feel like you just never ever are ready to even do anything positive in the game and you just try to hold on and you're just hoping that something happens. And things that were happening for the jet defense were like mind numbing, like they were getting interceptions. A team that hasn't had interceptions in two years is finally getting interceptions. But on top of those, they're getting penalties. And by the way, the Bears ran it down their throat. And when you think of the numbers, just the numbers are frightening when it comes to negativity for the Jets and they're great for Ben Johnson and the Bears. But I mean, this was a really, really hard watching on. I'm going back and forth between the Jets and the Giants. And I'm like, are the Jets ever going to be on offense?

Are they ever going to be on offense? And when they were on offense, they were about as flat as you can.

I mean, they were flat. That's the only way I could put it. And unfortunately, with all the penalties, the flat nature of the game from the offensive perspective, now, once again, Aaron Glenn is going to be, like, you know, subject number one. Like, your team was not ready. Your team was undisciplined. What are you going to do to turn this around? And he can put a spin on it any which way he wants today. I would just say, hey, man, this is one we need to flush and not even think about it. But it was about as awful as you could have expected. I thought they were going to win.

Evan Tiki (2:49)

Yeah, I know you picked them. I know you liked them.

But I wasn't even sure what the Bears were going to do with the quarterback position. It didn't really matter because the defense just suffocated the Jets. But you're right about the turning back into a joke thing. I'm not ready to say that. But every other game that they played, and I know that the players don't want to hear about silver linings or whatever moral victories. But from the Jets fan standpoint, there was something positive you took out of each one of those games, which was, all right, you win week one. You're right there with the Green Bay Packer team. You didn't know it was that bad and you felt like coach blew it, but it was like, okay, we're getting closer. You go on the road to Detroit and you're with them back and forth, the offense looks great. So even though you were one and two, there was something positive. There was nothing positive out of yesterday at all. And now is this gonna be the turning point? Is this gonna be now that fork in the road, that turn where this team that could have been a seven and 10 football team and had the respect of the league again? Or is it going to be another three-win team that with their own pick, they're gonna be higher than the ones that they caught in trades last year? So yeah, this could be it. This could be the inflection point. This could be the turning point.
