Talk about disappointing, man. This is, I've been a part of stuff like this, and man, it just kills you. It just, it eats you at your gut. And I know the fans are upset, and they have every right to be. And it was a, first of all, given the circumstances, and we were talking about going into the game and how maybe if it were raining, it would be an impantage for the Jets, just simply because it would slow down the offense of the Green Bay Packers. And quite frankly, it did.

There were a couple of phantom pass interference calls on the Jets that were mind boggling in my eyes, just watching it on TV.

And these are not excuses, by the way. These, every coach will tell you somewhere between five and seven plays kind of determine the outcome of the game if the game is close. You talk about a 63 yard punt return. That's a killer. You talk about a third and one and fourth and one, or really third and two and fourth and one, where they can't convert with Breece Hall and Braylon Allen. And I knew right there when they were around the 50 yard line that if they were going to run the ball on third and two, that they were going for it. That's usually kind of like the way the coaches go about things. The clock mismanagement at the end of the first half is mind numbing to me again. You have timeouts. You need to use those timeouts. You need to be able to see if you can get the ball back.

The special teams was also kind of a disaster yesterday. The punt return was part of that, but you had two muff punts by Isaiah Williams. You had a number of different things that didn't happen in the previous game that happened in this game and they were unfortunately negative. They were not able to run the ball as effectively. I would say the Jets offensive line for the most part, I would probably give them a C plus in this game. Our mom, Memmu, did not have a great game.

I know the conditions weren't great. I thought Gino, for the most part, handled everything fine. They didn't turn the ball over, which was key. And that's why the game was close. But the thing that just always chaps at me is, what do you do if you win the coin toss in overtime? Now, there's not really all that much data, so the data geeks can't really say, point to this and point to that. You know, I just always like to defer in overtime. I'd rather know what I have to do on fourth down, if in fact they score a touchdown, than I know on fourth down, I have to go for it. As opposed to playing the game in between the thirties. Like last night between Indianapolis and Kansas City, kind of a similar situation, but they both settle for field goals. And then Kansas City kicks a late field goal to go on and win the game in overtime with one second left on the clock. I don't like Aaron Glenn's explanation after the game. It just feels wrong to me.

I don't want to say that Frank should have been in his year. That's not Frank's role. Frank's role is to call the offense, not to, unless the coach asked him. The head coach is the head coach. And he's the head coach for a reason. He makes the decisions.

Gio Giovinazzo (3:08)

Well, you heard Aaron Glenn after the game, right? That it didn't even cross his mind.

Boomer Esiason (3:11)

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Gio Giovinazzo (3:12)

That's just, that does not cross your mind.

Boomer Esiason (3:15)

I know that. And you know, how many times have we come in here and the Jets have got slaughtered? Like last year with Brady Cook, they were getting slaughtered. And how many Jet fans were calling, just give me a competitive game. Just give me a competitive game. Well, they had a competitive game yesterday, but like I said, four or five or six plays that happened after the Jets took the 17 to seven lead. You know what I mean? Yeah, and by the way, I don't necessarily know that I'm going forward on fourth and one, you know, at 14 to seven.

Gio Giovinazzo (3:48)

Right. I know. I understand what you're saying.

Boomer Esiason (3:50)

I'm kicking the field goal there and I'm going up two scores.

Gio Giovinazzo (3:52)

Yeah.

When you say the fans give me a competitive game, there's also, we know that it's just, that's not just black and white. There's nuance to that. Like if this was a team that they had no chance of beating and the Jets were hanging in there and they're going touchdown for touchdown. And then finally in the fourth quarter, it just was too much for me. That's probably what a Jet fan was talking about. This was a team that was reeling. They lose two starters within 30 seconds of the game starting. They got penalties all over the place. They were coming into the game with the fan base ready to just put Matt LaFleur out to pasture. And they're up 10 in the fourth quarter. So I mean, this was different than just a competitive football game. They should have won the game. They were in a better position to win the game the entirety of the game until the very end, of course. And during the timeout sequence in the fourth quarter, you got Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma lauding Matt LaFleur for the clock management. But the only reason Matt LaFleur was allowed to do that with the clock manager is because Aaron Glenn's over there. Let him do it. Right, let him do it.
