Hey, JJ, do you and your wife watch any trashy television?

JJ Zachariason (0:04)

Yeah, I mean, I feel like that's all we watch. We have Love is Blind, of course, got to watch Love is Blind. The number one, though, for me, of bad television that I'm an addict of and a fan of and have been since elementary school, more so middle school, high school, is The Challenge. We watched The Challenge, very big Challenge fan. But how about you guys?

Rich Ryan (0:24)

Johnny Bananas, OG.

JJ Zachariason (0:26)

That's right.

Rich Ryan (0:27)

Legend Challenge. Yeah. So just like you, like stressful day, you want to just chill and watch some trash TV. So we caught the end of Love Island USA and the reunion was last night. And I got to say, as bad as it was and it was bad, it wasn't as bad as the NFL preseason has been so far.

JJ Zachariason (0:46)

I'm JJ, and I've been playing in best ball leagues for years. But there are people out there who play a lot more than I do. And there are people out there who have won a lot more than I have. And I want to learn from them. This season, I'll be documenting my journey of Max entering Underdog's best ball mania contest. And I'll be doing so with guidance from some of the most successful best ball players on the planet. This is the year where things start to change. This is the year where I officially become a best ball bro.

Welcome in to another episode of Becoming a Best Ball Bro. I'm JJ Zachariason, joined as always by my buddy Rich Ryan. Rich, what's going on, buddy?

Rich Ryan (1:32)

Doing good, man. Got my big high school keeper draft this weekend. Most of the guys, they still live out East, so they do a golf outing. So being out in California, I try to go every other year, so this is the year I am traveling, red-eye out, Thursday night. My one golf round of the year, which will go horrendously, but I'm a fast golfer. I will be moving, the ball will be moving. It might not go straight, but I'm playing ready golf, baby.

JJ Zachariason (2:01)

That's good. Look, if you're an average or below average golfer, as I am as well, and I honestly, I barely gotten out the last couple of years since CJ became part of our life, and having two young ones around, it's just very difficult to find the time to go play some golf. But hopefully, as they get older, I'll get out there and play a lot more. But look, I'm like a 90s golfer, nothing special. I just like to go out there, have some fun, and I have my home league draft this weekend as well. So I am not playing golf because we're now scattered everywhere throughout the country. But I'm jealous that you'll be able to do all that. That's always one of the best weekends of the year.

Rich Ryan (2:44)

Yeah, I mean, being from New Jersey, you've got Philly and New York right there. So even when people go to college and get jobs, a lot of them just end up staying in the Northeast anyway. So yeah, it makes that way, way easier.

JJ Zachariason (2:57)

Yeah, I went to high school in Pittsburgh. We got people still in Pittsburgh. We got New York City. We got outside of DC. We got someone in Kentucky. We have me in North Carolina. We have someone in the league that's in Florida. We're everywhere. So it makes it a little bit more difficult to, you know, to do. I do have, my brother lives in Raleigh. I'm in Charlotte. So he's only like two, two and a half hours away. He just can't make it this weekend just for other things. But usually he's able to come and we get like a little bit of a cluster because there's some people in Charlotte that are also in it. So you get a little bit of a cluster and that's where I'd be going to play golf and stuff, but we're not this weekend. So I will live vicariously through you, my friend. That should be a lot of fun. So today, you know, we have the typical interview and such, but I figured that we would go over some guys that, you know, I've been talking about guys I've been targeting pretty much every episode. This is episode 14 We only have one more left after this one, which is kind of sad.

It'll make some people happy who have been complaining about the podcast feed, having a best ball podcast.
