Hey, everyone, it's JJ, and I'm on vacation right now. I need a little break with my family after all the work that was done with The Late-Round Draft Guide, which, by the way, that's out. You can go purchase it right now over on lateround.com. But with me being sidelined for the week, this isn't your typical Becoming a Best Ball Bro episode. Since I knew I was going to be out, my co-host Rich Ryan picked some of the best clips from the interviews that I've done over the last month and a half of the show. And he put it together for a nice little recap episode as we enter the more intense time for fantasy football drafts. That is July and August. So that's what today's episode is all about. If you've listened to all the episodes, then you've heard some of the answers already. But it can't hurt to think about everything once again. Hope you enjoy and I hope you have a great 4th of July holiday. I'll catch you all on Tuesday. I'm JJ and last year I tried my hardest to become a best ball bro. I drafted over 500 teams. I talked to some of the most successful best ball players in existence and I admittedly had mixed results. So this year, I'm going to chase that title once again. My plan is to max enter DraftKings Millionaire Maker and I'm going to document all of it while talking to the brightest best ball minds on the planet. Last year, I didn't quite get there. But this year, this is going to be the year where I officially become a best ball bro.

Sponsored by DK. Now back to the show. Pat Corrane, owner of legendaryupside.com. As I've gotten into DraftKings and the platform and drafting on there, I've just noticed that I will have like, it's very easy to have really strong wide receivers early because running backs are being drafted early, but then at the same time, you can get caught with your pants down, if you will, where like if you're in the later rounds and you're going with a more zero RB approach, those running backs just aren't available because people just keep drafting that position.

Pat Corrane (3:43)

It's much easier to be stronger at wide receiver on DraftKings. Like just kind of regardless of what you're doing. If you have that as a goal, it's easier to achieve that goal on DraftKings. So I'm kind of trying to think, it's almost like more like on FFPC, which is tends to be a pretty running back heavy platform, I'm kind of thinking about the best times to deviate from trying to be strong at receiver and grab the running backs. Because there are going to be other wide receiver opportunities available later.

One pocket for me on DraftKings is like, you can be sitting at the 11th round and get a receiver that you like. And that's just kind of a breath of fresh air.

I'm not used to that. But if I know I can get that, if I know I can get wide receivers I like more in the ninth, like the end of the fifth this morning, I got George Pickens. That's pretty sweet. I got Marvin Harrison at the end of the third round, instead of the beginning of the third round. So there's spots where I'm like, okay, if I can sit here at the end of the third, at the end of the fifth, if I can wait for receivers a little bit more later on, I'm not pushing guys up around ahead of where I think they should actually go. So I actually have a wide receiver three or wide receiver four. Then I can use that to my advantage by also being strong at running back. And so I had a build this morning where I took McCaffrey, I was out of the 12-ball, I took McCaffrey, I took Brees, I took Trevion Henderson, and I took Deandre Swift. So in every turn in the first four turns, first four pairs of picks, I took a running back. And then I didn't take my fifth running back till very late. But I basically kind of built balance there, but I ended up feeling pretty strong at receiver because I also took a receiver with each of my first four pairs of picks as well. So through eight, I had four running backs and four receivers, feeling pretty good about both positions. And then I filled out the depth at receiver on DraftKings in a way that I basically don't expect to if I'm not there.
