This is Reasonable Doubt with your hosts, Mark Geragos and Gary Smith.

**Mark Geragos** (0:37)
Well, welcome. We have a very special episode today. Let me kind of introduce it or set the tone.
My daughter Teny, who is also my grandbaby mama, is going to do this episode on the trial that seems to have captivated mothers everywhere. She's going to do it with another mother in my world, Setara, my longtime partner, law firm partner, mother and lawyer extraordinaire. The two of them I heard talking this week about the Clancy trial. And you know, I was fascinated by it. And so I said, why don't you two basically glom onto the feed this week and you guys discuss it because I'd rather listen to you than talk about it. And so without further ado, Gary and I are seeding Reasonable Doubt this week to my daughter, Teny and Setara Qassim.

**Teny Geragos** (1:40)
Anyway, this is what's been on me and Setara's minds all week. We are both mothers of young children and yeah, we should all over TikTok. So I want to start off with you, Setara, to tell me what your thoughts are on the case, what your thoughts are on the trial strategy, the prosecution and defense. Give us your ideas, your thoughts.

**Setara Qassim** (2:02)
So now I'm on the side of TikTok where possibly this was an alleged suicide attempt and maybe something that could have been orchestrated by Patrick Clancy.
I don't know what the pre-trial rulings were for third party, what do you call it? A third party culpability or whatnot, but I don't know. I mean, things seem kind of fishy to me there with Patrick Clancy and just his behavior on the stand, the email that was sent during that time period where all this happened.

**Teny Geragos** (2:37)
What was the email that was sent?

**Setara Qassim** (2:40)
It was an email that was sent from his Surface laptop.
So just the time frame of it. It wasn't the subject of the email, but the fact that the email was sent. Yeah. And he was really surprised to see that when he was on the stand. I don't know if you know, but he also remarried within a year.

**Teny Geragos** (2:59)
So many women lives, I should say, have made this point to me.
My dad says the man always remarries if there's been a death of any kind. So that part to me is not that shocking.

**Setara Qassim** (3:14)
It's not just that he remarried. He was also traveling to New York very often during this period of Lindsay's postpartum depression. He would travel frequently. He'd go for two days at a time, three days at a time.
His new wife is from New York. I don't know. I get Chris Wallace vibes. Okay. I don't know why. I just feel like maybe they had tunnel vision in their investigation and really adopted this theory and only wanted to see this theory and didn't really open their minds to any alternatives or maybe the role that Patrick Clancy played in all this.
If she did premeditate this and she had it all planned out and was not insane and really just wanted to kill her kids, why would she plan it during this 45 minute period? His whole thing is he traveled often. He was sitting in his basement all day working. And if he wasn't doing that, he was traveling. Like he was very open. She had a lot of opportunity to very comfortably do this. Not to scramble in 45 minutes to try to get this done.

**Teny Geragos** (4:24)
I think that this was clearly not premeditated. That's what everything is showing me. And I guess for our listener, Setara is a conspiracy theorist, but she always has these... That's what makes her a very good criminal defense lawyer.

**Setara Qassim** (4:35)
But a conspiracy theorist, along with the rest of TikTok.

**Teny Geragos** (4:39)
And the rest of the world is thinking it, except for me. I'm like the only person who isn't. But I also think that Kevin Reddington, who's Lindsay Clancy's lawyer, is a fantastic criminal defense attorney.
