Welcome to Bar Karate The Sailing Podcast. My name's Jordan Spencer. It's that time of the week where I get to hang out with some really cool sailors. But of course, I have to share the mic with a few idiot mates.

**Nick Bice** (0:44)
Greetings, exalted one.

**Jordan Spencer** (0:46)
Let's welcome Mr. Brett Perry, if, which we would do, if he had bothered to wake up.
I don't know what's going on with the young fella. He organized his time. We built it around him, but he's managed to sleep through. So let's bring in the other bloke.

**SPEAKER_4** (1:02)
He had a voice that could make a Wolverine purr.

**Jordan Spencer** (1:05)
Mr. Nick Bice.

**Bret Perry** (1:07)
About the time we got some people on the show that show a bit of reliability, I think.

**Jordan Spencer** (1:14)
Just straight back in with the gold.

**Bret Perry** (1:19)
I mean, how we expected to, you know, soar like eagles and he's still sitting in his nest.

**Jordan Spencer** (1:25)
I know, I know.

**Bret Perry** (1:27)
That's all he's doing. Well, yes, you know, I think we should start showing a bit of commitment.

**Jordan Spencer** (1:31)
Well, the great thing is we do have a team member now that set a whole new standard in performance and behavior. So let's bring her in.

**SPEAKER_4** (1:40)
You guys know how it's hard to be friends with me because I'm so awesome.

**Nick Bice** (1:48)
You know, the nice thing is I was the new guy, but now Blythe is here, so welcome.

**Bret Perry** (1:56)
It's like dating your ex a couple of times, right? Just coming back in for seconds, thirds, stay away long enough to come home. And actually, it's a bit like my marriage.
I go away for five or six weeks, which is welcomed within the family to get rid of dorky dad and dickhead husband. And then I'm away just long enough that they're like, oh, we didn't come home, we didn't come home. It's just kind of a life balance like that. So yeah, just keeping everyone on their toes.

**Jordan Spencer** (2:30)
That's a full life. That's a full life.

**Bret Perry** (2:31)
But you never tell anyone when you're coming home, just in case. It's going to be sneaky.

**Jordan Spencer** (2:38)
Yes, I know that rule.
So for the listener, we have actually pre-recorded the interview. So I hope it's not confusing, but BP, we didn't have time to put it all together in one hit. So we're expecting BP and Stace, and we've got Bicey and Stace, so that's good. But yeah, regardless, Bar Karate is here and we're just going to run with it. That's the vibe of the show. We're not really too fussed on how it's going to play out like that. So it's good. What is good is that if you're a sailor and you just want to know how to get ahead and make it, this is probably going to be the most amazing episode you will ever hear on Bar Karate.
The guest we have on this show is just like, we've had some hardcore people that have thrown everything on the line, but this person is just going to take, it completely takes the cake. So it's just an incredible interview, an incredible determination, and it's just led to everything basically. And a wonderful young lady. So we're very, very happy to have on the show, Arisa Moriya. Arisa, thanks for joining us on Bar Karate. It is very good to see you.

**Arisa Moriya** (3:57)
Thank you so much for having me. I'm so happy to be here. Thank you.

**Stacey** (4:01)
Wow, it's absolutely fantastic.

**Nick Bice** (4:03)
So Arisa, we were talking about you a couple of episodes ago, and I said to the guys, now here's another woman I'm going to fangirl this year, is Arisa. So do you want to tell your story, and then we can tell how we met after this.

**Arisa Moriya** (4:19)
Okay. My story.

**Jordan Spencer** (4:22)
Yeah.
How you got into sailing? Where did you start?

**Arisa Moriya** (4:25)
Oh, yes.
I started sailing when I was in Japan and later teenage, and once I tried and I really loved it. In Japan, sailing is not so popular. People don't know sailing. The people know the word of sailing, but people don't know what it is. Like, is it boat rowing and sailing is everything is mixed. So yes, for me, it was the same. But when I first go sailing, try sailing, I loved it. And I decided to start sailing.
