BAES 172: Why Muse is such a big deal

The Ben and Emil Show

October 1, 2026

Mark Zuckerberg pulled off the hat trick with the release of Muse. Not only did it spike Meta's stock price, but it caused a ripple effect taking down several other companies in various sectors. We'll dig into that and why laziness is apparently worth billions.

College football is back, so Hilton called on me, the superstition concierge, to make your fan rituals a reality. Need a room to match your lucky number? We got you. Wanna make sure our team doesn't wash your lucky jersey? Oh, that smells lucky.

Hilton's unmatched hospitality can keep up with any superstition. Even a marching band wake up call at 555 in 55 seconds. Hit it! When you need a team that will do whatever it takes on game day, it matters where you stay. Hilton, for the stay.

Ben (0:30)

This week, we're talking all about Muse.

Emil (0:33)

How you can find your Muse, what to look for in a Muse.

Ben (0:35)

No, silly Billy. Meta's Muse, Mark Zuckerberg's Muse.

Emil (0:40)

Mark Zuckerberg basically stole instinct and was like, we could do that and release it to our massive user base.

I simply cannot imagine writing an article in the New York Times in front of God and everybody that says, I thought maybe I would donate to charity or buy my ill girlfriends of flowers, but the robot told me to buy a plate, so that's what I did. Wow. Wow.

Ben (1:00)

They say, for us, Muse gives us back the scarcest thing we have, time with the people we love.

Emil (1:07)

I don't think that's true.

Ben (1:09)

They've been saying that to us for over a decade. We're just trying to connect people with who they love and who they care about and give them more time to do the things that they love and they care about, so that they can love who they love and care about.

Emil (1:24)

I would say what they're actually doing is they're offloading caring about the people they love to a thing. It's like you don't have to care anymore. I'll care for you.

What does that leave you with?

Ben (1:37)

If you're just now having more time with your wife who you love.

Emil (1:40)

At a certain point, you get so far from it that the robot knows more about your wife than you do.

Ben (1:46)

God willing, she'll leave you for the robot.

Emil (1:48)

God willing.

Ben (2:15)

What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to another episode of The Ben and Emil Show. I am Ben.

Emil (2:20)

I'm Emil.

Ben (2:20)

And we're going to tell you what's going on. What is going on this week? We're talking all about Muse.

Emil (2:27)

How you can find your Muse, what to look for in a Muse.

Ben (2:30)

No, silly Billy. Meta's Muse, Mark Zuckerberg's Muse.

Emil (2:35)

Do you remember the first time you found out about what a Muse was?

Ben (2:40)

I mean, I remember the first time listening to the band Muse, circa like 2008, and I really liked them.

Emil (2:46)

That bad, what's that guy's name? The movie, the Muse.

Ben (2:51)

Yes, with, I forget the guy's, Albert Brooks.

SPEAKER_4 (2:55)

Yes. Yeah.

Ben (2:56)

And it's Darryl Hannah.

Emil (2:57)

No, I feel like it's Sharon Stone.

Ben (3:00)

I think you're correct. Yeah.

Emil (3:01)

And I remember asking my parents, like, what is it?

SPEAKER_4 (3:03)

It's like a woman you want to have sex with. It's a lady you jerk off to, son.

Ben (3:08)

So that's not what this is. But it's, they're, they're beating everybody. They, they totally took everybody by surprise over the last few weeks. And we are going to tell you exactly why that is so important. What's the big deal? What it is, what it's doing, and the other things that they just announced over the last week.

Before we do that, we got the Q&A coming today.

We're going to do that after hours. benandemilshow.com. Sign up there. Please support the show. Also, hey, yesterday, we did a special edition little video about the Anthropic IPO leak. So if you're an audio listener, you got to tune in to YouTube, man.

Emil (3:48)

That's not going on audio.

Ben (3:49)

That's not going on audio. That's for the tubies out there, tubies and boobies.

Emil (3:53)

Oh, and check out BenAndEmilOnAliens.

Ben (3:55)

Yeah, BenAndEmilOnAliens.

Emil (3:57)

If you liked it, there's a longer cut coming to the BenAndEmilShow website. It should be up right now, right? Oh yeah.

Ben (4:04)

It's like twice as long. It's people are going crazy about it. They're saying it's one of the best things we've ever done.

Anyway, so Muse. So Muse, the easiest way to explain it is that a little guy lives in the computer.

Emil (4:20)

Mark Zuckerberg basically stole instinct and was like, we could do that and release it to our massive user base.
