Bad Bosses, Camp Stock, Better/Worse & Bad ADPs: Going Deep with Brandon Angelo & Matt Waldman

Welcome, everybody, to Going Deep. I know it's been a little bit of a while, Brandon. He was on assignment, as they say over at Football Guys. He was on an assignment. Hope he had a fun assignment, as he was doing your thing. And the season is upon us pretty much, at least for fantasy. So we're gonna cover about four things. We're gonna talk about ADPs that make little sense, training camp stock, what we actually are buying, NFL operations environments. Do they just want political yes men? And offensive environments we project to improve, and those that we think are gonna get worse.

I don't know if I got Vanna. I don't have Vanna White over here, but let's go ahead and start with this. All right, we'll get this one out of the way. NFL operations environments want political yes-men. My contention, Brandon, is that I've had people, somebody asked me about Kaishan Booty, about Kaishan Booty. Ben Volin gets on X last night or two nights ago and says, we're watching practices and it's pretty clear that while DeMario Douglas is getting most of the reps, whenever Kaishan Booty comes in, he's getting, he's making the biggest place. Like he looks like the best of the bunch in terms of what's going on here.
Now, we've long talked about Booty being a flanker slot option. I know that Sigmund Blum and I were talking earlier today that before, I think it was Skip Peat or whoever the coordinator is over or coach over in Seattle, he had Booty at LSU and was like, we're going to make you a slot flanker. And Booty was all kind of excited about being moved around everywhere.
He comes to New England and basically, you know, as a late round pick because of the gambling. And he's, they're like making it, he's a fox and they're trying to make him into a cheetah, and have him be like an outside receiver. And he's doing the imitation pretty well enough that he's at least tricking, he's tricking at least like the elephants and some of the leopards, and you know, and maybe even the honey badgers here and there with what he's able to do. But now they bring in Romeo Dubs, who's like never been, at least from a fantasy perspective, never been a fantasy starter in his entire career. He's fast, he can run routes. Sometimes he can catch, but he doesn't seem to be able to put it all together. Some of that may be the system and who he was playing with, and the other players, but he comes in here, and you can kind of see how Booty was like, so you brought this guy in?
Yeah, I'd like a trade. I think that would be a good idea. I could go somewhere else, but you brought this guy in. Okay, sure. That shows you how much you value me. But I think that I see this, and somebody said, well, why is this all happening? I'm like, well, my theory, Brandon, is, well, a, the Patriots have sucked at picking anything other than the slot receiver since Bill Belichick came to town and after it's still not much better. And number two teams, you know, the heads of these organizations, whoever are the executives or the main managers over certain groups, they don't like people disagreeing with them. They don't, they want to be the smartest men in the room, and they will rig it so that they are the smartest men in the room through threatening people with their jobs by basically saying, you need to agree with anything that I want you to do so that I look good, and I look like the genius in the room, as opposed to it being a collaborative approach. And I think that it's kind of like watching politics today. You know, it's kind of the same thing where it's like whatever side of the aisle you're on, there's this whole idea of we all must be lockstep with whoever the current leader is. And no matter how fucking stupid the idea is, and I'm again, I'm not talking about just Trump. I'm talking about either side. It could be Trump, Biden, whoever, you know, whatever the idea is, we need to have everybody agreeing with this, even if we know that this we're walking aboard the Titanic here. And I think that this is what NFL teams do pretty naturally from the Alex Smith, basically, the Alex Smith story I've often told to what we're seeing with Booty. It's like, you don't want to trade this guy. Put him in the fucking slot and trade the Mario Douglas or let the Mario Douglas return kicks or make him a gadget guy or, you know, do something along those lines. But it seems like that they're more worried about how they look with having to reverse a decision, as opposed to actually doing what's best for a team.
