The Auburn Express

September 7, 2026

Auburn football found a way to win, but maybe the biggest story coming out of the Baylor game is HOW the Tigers got it done. This Auburn team got punched, responded, and showed the type of physicality and resilience that has been missing in too many close games.

Flowing ad budget on metrics that look great till the CFO sees them, that's bull spend. And marketers are calling it out in Dashboard Confessions.

I remember telling my boss, it'll be good for the brand when leads were slow. Yeah, it wasn't.

College football is back, so Hilton called on me, the superstition concierge, to make your fan rituals a reality. Need a room to match your lucky number? We got you. Want to make sure our team doesn't wash your lucky jersey? Oh, that smells lucky.

Hilton's unmatched hospitality can keep up with any superstition. Even a marching band wake up call at 555 in 55 seconds. Hit it! When you need a team that will do whatever it takes on game day, it matters where you stay. Hilton, for the stay.

All right, well, let's get to this situation we got going on here. Myself, Mike G, C-Dub, Ceasear got an opportunity to speak his piece in full, I think, last night. But I will give you the floor first again this morning, in case there are additional things, after you let it marinate and nestle within your spirits. Are there any additional things that you would like to say about what you witnessed last night, Ceasear?

I saw a physical Auburn football team that was willing to punch back.

Auburn teams in the past would get punched and would hold their mouths for a few quarters and maybe think about swinging back. This team fought back. This team made plays. This team actually had an opportunity to have a game ending drive and then close out and prevent the other team for basically taking the game away from them.

I think that's a great start in the right direction. And hearing Atlas Goldish talk in the post game, he talked about, I think the thing that kind of was disappointing, guys, is that it seemed to me that Baylor had an incredible defensive game plan and it frustrated this coaching staff into making certain decisions that were uncharacteristic of them, asking Byron Brown to throw into double coverage when he shouldn't have. Those are things that moving forward, I'm hoping this coaching staff can avoid, because if you are any defensive minded coach, Baylor handed you the game plan for Auburn on a silver platter. Hopefully they learn from this and begin to coach up these kids and make better decisions as coaches to put these kids in better positions to make plays. Down the road, because it doesn't get any easier than this. Kudos to Baylor, they are improved. That was a good defensive game plan. They're a different defensive team than last year. You got to give them their props for that. But I expect LSU to be difficult or more challenging. I expect Florida to be more challenging. I expect some of these teams on our schedule that we knew were challenging, they're going to be a lot more difficult than this. So if Auburn can bounce back from this, learn from it and grow.
