This is the DNVR Broncos Podcast from the Xfinity Studio at the DNVR Bar. We don't plug the DNVR Bar enough.
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:08)
I do in my intro. In fact, I wanted to ask you, you settled on this is as your opening line?
Zac Stevens (0:14)
This is.
Andrew Mason (0:15)
You don't like that?
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:16)
It's funny.
Andrew Mason (0:17)
Well, when we were told we were making some company wide video, it was suggested that that's the line we all use for one of our shows so that they can cut them all together. So somebody thinks that that's a pretty great intro.
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:28)
Whoa.
Zac Stevens (0:29)
Okay. Well, I didn't mean to go. You weren't in on that meeting, were you?
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:32)
I'm sure I was, but as you know, the old retention of memories has gone.
Andrew Mason (0:38)
Apparently, the way I start the show is the way that everybody at the company was told for our video. When we're doing our very best, we should do it.
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:45)
They don't want DNVR.
Andrew Mason (0:49)
I think that that fits really well on one of our shows. And I think a lot of the others, it doesn't quite fit.
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:55)
What about we're doing it?
Andrew Mason (0:57)
We are doing it.
Henry Chisholm (0:58)
Yeah, we're doing it, guys.
Andrew Mason (0:59)
We're doing it.
Henry Chisholm (0:59)
Can't argue that.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:00)
You know who did it also?
Andrew Mason (1:02)
The Colorado Buffalo.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:04)
Yes, Ali Oop right there. That was great stuff.
Zac Stevens (1:08)
Football, man. What a magical sport.
Andrew Mason (1:11)
What a magical sport.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:11)
What a magical sport.
Andrew Mason (1:12)
It's not a game that's meant to be pretty.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:14)
No, opposite.
Zac Stevens (1:16)
No, it's all about the big uglies famously. Settle down.
Andrew Mason (1:20)
Yeah, yeah.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:21)
Zach, Zach really got the f-bombs rolling on the show this week.
Very happy to see, you know, when I watched Buff's football as a kid, it was about stopping the run, running the ball. So that made me very happy. It was a classic. Like they should have won that game the whole way. They should have scored that touchdown at the three yard line but they went for it on fourth down, which proper call though kind of a ball don't lie because, like, you know, that fumble along the way.
Zac Stevens (1:55)
That's why you make the call.
Andrew Mason (1:57)
We're circling back because, because if you don't pick it up, they get the ball at the two yard line.
And what happens when you get the ball at the two yard line? Nothing good.
Ryan Koenigsberg (2:07)
The defense, like, Oh, in fact they got a three and L.
Andrew Mason (2:09)
Exactly, because you're not trusting a college quarterback to throw the ball from his own end zone. It's just not going to happen. So you know a run's coming, you get to stuff it up. I would guess the three and out rate when a drive like that starts at the two, it's got to be in the 70s and 80s.
Ryan Koenigsberg (2:23)
Actually, I'd love to see that day.
Andrew Mason (2:24)
But yeah, easier to get for the NFL than for college.
Ryan Koenigsberg (2:28)
Certainly, certainly.
Andrew Mason (2:29)
But yeah, so.
Ryan Koenigsberg (2:30)
College, you rarely even have that opportunity.
Andrew Mason (2:33)
Right, and so who punts the ball? A college punter, who is not getting it past midfield. It's actually a decent punting to midfield, but it's like line drive. And then you get a little return, you get the ball at the 33 after the return, which if you're upset they didn't take the three points, well guess what? There's your three points right there.
So and then you get the chance to get back in there. So it's very similar to Sean Payton, the AFC Championship game. Slightly different when you're factoring in the best run game in the NFL, statistically and Josh Allen and that sort of stuff last year, but still the right decision.
Ryan Koenigsberg (3:08)
Broncos go for it at like the 12 yard while they're going for it at the two yard.
Andrew Mason (3:12)
Right, and then like the impending weather is also. No kidding, an interesting piece. There were more factors there.
Ryan Koenigsberg (3:19)
At the end of the half played a fact like no one could hold on to the ball, which is just crazy. And I mean, the defense was lights out for the buffs. Yeah, like they allowed nothing. I mean, the one touchdown Georgia Tech got was that that kick return, right?
