Anthropic's own CEO Dario Amodei is calling for the AI industry to slow down. In his essay "We Must Pace the Frontier," Amodei warned that AI is advancing faster than safety can keep up, and committed to giving third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access to Anthropic's systems.

Your credit card company is hoping you don't hear this. They're charging you 21% APR interest, making it hard to pay down your balance. A home equity loan from Rocket Mortgage could cut your interest rate by more than half. So you could wipe out your high interest credit card debt with the equity you've built in your home without touching your current mortgage rate. See how much you could save at rocketmortgage.com. Dario comes out, nobody knows what he's going to be saying. He puts out a tweet and an almost like a blog that he writes with the story of Anthropic because last week, this fellow who was at Anthropic for a few weeks, he leaves, he says, hey, super intelligence and around the corner and you know, great things, you know, bad things are happening. You should be careful. There's a 10% chance AI is going to turn on us and it's going to do this. And he wrote this, we must pace the frontier. This is the CEO of Anthropic. I've written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We'll provide third-party evaluators with permanent employee level access to our system so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, assess models, align them during training, you can read the full post below. And if you go through it, there's a lot of things that he talks about. Elon supported it, Sam Altman came up.

And by the way, if you want to kind of pull up a summary of it, Sam Altman came out and said, I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier. This has been a primary topic of discussions we've had at OpenAI in recent weeks, committing to have an independent evaluators with employee-like access is a great idea, and we will do the same. We'll have more to share soon. Musk says, I agree. I've been saying this for a while, and Dario is right. Very simple. Bernie Sanders sees this as an opportunity to say even more. So he says, I'm glad finally everybody is agreeing with me. If you want to go to Bernie Sanders' account, I'm glad everybody is finally agreeing with me, but this is not enough. We need to go even further than this.

If you just go to People, right there, just type in People to his account. He says, we need to go even further than this, of what's going on and I'm glad they're finally supporting it. I think it's lower than that. If you go a little bit lower, you should find it. Anyways, and then the president, there you go. Warning in 2001, artificial insummoning. Elon Musk says, Jacob has a warning about existential threat of AI is a setup. Really, in 2014, Musk said, okay, so this is previous to that.

But he's saying now more people are joining him. I think it's on the retweet section of Bernie Sanders. Then the president was asked about this. And when the president was asked about it, he gave a very different answer about what should happen. President's response, if you have that clip, when he was asked about it, they said, hey, are you using AI? What are you doing with this? And this is what he said about AI. Go for it.

We take in a lot of their cars, car tariffs.

Adam (3:02)

President Trump, this week, again, there's been so much concern about AI.

Vinny (3:06)

Have you heard directly from any of these AI tech leaders? And you seem to downplay some of the concerns that we've heard.

Patrick Bet-David (3:12)

But it's going to be more good than bad.

Adam (3:15)

By a lot.

Vinny (3:16)

And I've said it from the beginning.

Patrick Bet-David (3:18)

Whoever wins AI, and we're leading by a lot. Whoever wins AI wins.

Vinny (3:24)

Have you ever used it yourself or have you been?

Tom (3:27)

How do you use AI?

Patrick Bet-David (3:28)

But I would say, you know, for the most part, you can use AI for a lot of things.

Tom (3:33)

What do you use it for?

Adam (3:33)

I don't want to tell you. Speaking of AI.

Vinny (3:36)

I don't want to tell you.

Patrick Bet-David (3:37)

So, Tom, your thoughts with everything that's going on here?

Vinny (3:41)

Wow.

Tom (3:41)

Where to start?

First of all, it was very interesting. I was looking at the playing field all this weekend, and what was very interesting, you have Dario and Sam Altman, the frontier guys, the undisputed leaders, 1A and 1B, right? These are the heavyweights. They're out there saying things together. Why are they saying that? Then you get David Sacks, who had been working, you know, digital czar with the White House, saying, wait a minute, you guys don't need permission to do this. You could do these things out of competitive impulse. You could do things out of free market. You could do a lot of things. David Sacks wrote a very, very long response, said, you don't need permission. Then you have Elon Musk saying, I'm mostly with Amodei because he'll never say he's with Sam because he had that big lawsuit thing, but he's really with both of them, where they are. And then you had a variety of other people, including, you know, Nadella at Microsoft. He says, no, no, no, wait a minute. It's got to apply across all companies. Let me translate Nadella.
