Hopefully, the audience will like what we have coming with their way today. Well, hello there. Welcome to WTA Weekly. And it is our usual post-Grand Slam show. Although I do feel like, unusually for a post-Grand Slam show, we'll have to almost immediately try and make sure we pivot to look ahead, because there's a lot to talk about with grass as well. But let's give Clay its proper send-off. And who better to do that than the King of Clay, its biggest fan, and the face of our Roland Garros coverage pretty much for the last two weeks, it's John Silk. John, how are you doing?

Good, good. It's the first day after a Grand Slam. I think this one is particularly different in that we do now transition to the... So obviously post-Australia, there's maybe a little bit of a lull, and then you've got Indian Wales and Miami, but it's still the same surface, albeit different conditions. US. Open, similar, of course, maybe we're transitioning into the European winter and the indoor season, all the rest of it, plus the Asian swing. But this one is particularly stark because suddenly we have to adjust our TV sets and get used to the green, very similar to the green that's surrounding us right now.
I mean, surrounding us all. Although actually, I'm in my garden right now, so there is some green right in front of me too.

Yeah, you're doing well to be south side. That is not an option for us in the UK.

**John Silk** (2:55)
Okay.

It's cloudy, but it's warm enough.

I haven't checked the forecast for the grass court event happening today, but that's fine. I think it's already not looking good.

But we'll get back to that later. Let's talk about somewhere where the weather was at least good enough for tennis, depending on whether or not you like windy conditions. And I'm sure we'll get back to that.

Mira Andreeva is a Grand Slam champion. She won the final against Maya Hvalinska. Hvalinska. And she, yeah, at 19 years old, secured her first Grand Slam. And yeah, I guess it's like, John, for us, it was always a question of when, not if.
I guess the question for you is like, is the when sooner than you expected?

**John Silk** (4:01)
Yes and no. Yes, because the form from the loss to Boisson at the French Open last year, until I would argue the clay court season began, I think she had a loss in Miami, where I think she might have lost to Mboko, it was at 6 love in the third, but I think there might have been some physical issues with her there. But the Cyniakova loss was particularly painful for her. I think she's a better player than Katarina on singles at least.
And it's also, of course, a tournament where she was defending those winners points that she got from 2025 But yeah, if you could go from Boisson, the loss to her at the French Open last year, all the way through to then, I think she'll be disappointed with that stretch, and it was quite a lengthy one. So at that point, no. I did look at that lint straw that she had and go, you know what, I think this is a chance for her to start her 2026 There were some tough opponents, no doubt about it. Osterpenko was in there. I think Chastey was playing as well.
