I was gonna say, all the Japanese and Germans are bad.
Yeah, we are talking James Bond today. More of an introduction, but I love this franchise, and I think we're gonna learn just how small it is at the core of it, the people behind it. This is the most you're gonna see two, sorry. This is the most you're gonna see three overweight men talk about broccoli.

**Mike** (1:08)
I promise. We're gonna talk about so much broccoli.

Yeah, let's list them out too. We've got, we're today, the five movies.

Yeah, yeah, so the five movies that I asked you guys to watch and it was interesting, you know, our listeners debated with this list a little bit, but that's part of the fun of it. And I even went on the James Bond reddit and asked them if these were five good picks.

**Holden** (1:52)
That's cool.

So we have Goldfinger, we've got The Spy Who Loved Me, we have License to Kill, we have Goldeneye, and we have Skyfall. So we have five, we have all five bonds who have been in more than one movie.

**Holden** (2:12)
Major bonds, yeah, that's the thing. I know there's a couple of outliers there.

**Mike** (2:16)
Now the big controversy that the bond thread said was that we are not including On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I know that's a standout. You gotta have one of each. I really wanted to compact this to five. I thought that'd be a little less demanding. And we'll talk about...

Mike, essentially what you're saying is, George Lassenby, you find him to be a mook or a jabroni.

**Holden** (2:39)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

He lives on Jabroni Drive. That's where all the jabronis hang out.

And I kinda wanna bring this up right up top. We even had debates before. You were like, I wanna do a Bond episode. And I was like, is it nerdy enough? And after this week of really for the first time fully exploring each era, you know, I would have to say it's nerdy enough, I think. It's weird enough.

**Mike** (3:05)
Well, there's, you know, book nerds, movie nerds, and then you just have the campiness, the sci-fi elements at times, the fantasy elements at times.
I think, and the enduring fandom. To me, our show is about fandom more than anything.
And this is the longest running film franchise. To go from 1962, and there's a movie in development right now.

**Holden** (3:34)
Right, right. James Bond will return.

**Mike** (3:37)
In 26, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
And that's like a thing that doesn't happen a lot. And a lot of the stuff that you see Marvel doing, Bond did it first.

**Jake Young** (3:47)
Yeah. Over-correcting constantly and missing the mark, is that what you're talking about?

**Mike** (3:52)
But not losing money because they always hired white male leads.

**Holden** (3:58)
Well, and I think this is something, I'm learning more about you as well.

**Mike** (4:01)
Yeah.

**Holden** (4:02)
I think you are drawn to, between this and like comic books, like seeing the same kind of formatted thing, but with a different take on it over many different periods of times, different directors, different, you know what I mean? Like this Cyclops is very different from like this Cyclops, but they still have these trappings. And I think there's something like that. So I feel the same way or felt the same way watching through these movies. I'm like, oh, I'm really excited to see how they're going to do, what song they're going to do.
What crazy opening action moment they're going to do. I mean, the structures are so, and again, we were complaining about the guy being like, we don't do Exploding Pins anymore. I liked that stuff. I was really sad when they stopped, not really sad, but when they stopped including like a weird heavy, I was like, where's my weird heavy? I want a crazy guy with spikes for eyeballs or something.

It's the 2010s, now they're weird skinnies.

**Holden** (4:59)
Yeah.
I want to see, what's their take on Q? All that stuff, there's something just really fun about experiencing a franchise like that, especially in the way we did it, where again, we did 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, whatever, and watching them like that, I think was really fun. My brother actually went through a bond phase as well and did the thing, went back and experienced. He also tried to do it, I think I've been to this before, he tried to do that with Elvis movies and very quickly was like, these suck and are like the same every single time in a bad way.
