It was Sunday, 1130, and then it was called off shortly after. Well, they officially charged the woman. 25-year-old St. Louis woman is facing multiple criminal charges after filing a report that her one-year-old kid was inside a stolen car.
Late night, regional Amber Alert, massive multi-agency police response. So it's Brianna Mathis. She's been officially charged with knowingly making a report that triggers an Amber Alert and making a police report. So here's what happened. Here's what had happened. On Sunday, 1030, 1030 p.m., police officers responded to the Phillips 66 station near South 4th Street in Choteau. This is downtown. Brianna said that a guy known to her had stolen a Dodge Charger with her one-year-old kid strapped inside.
So detectives utilized SLMPD's real-time crime center. Regional camera networks tracked the car as it fled eastbound on Walnut. Shortly after the state activated the official Amber Alert, the guy identified as a suspect called 911 himself.
He said, hey, there's no kid in the car and I will surrender peacefully. Can you imagine?

St. Charles Police intercepted and seized the Dodge Charger near Highway 370, took the man into custody, searched the car, no kid. So here's the hoax, no stolen vehicle. Investigators determined the Dodge Charger was not stolen and Brianna did not own it. Police noted that Brianna had been using drugs and was experiencing active substance use issues when she made the report.
And detectives contacted Brianna's relatives and they found that the kid was safe and sound with with another relative and never in danger.

We could get one of the special needs ones that are like usually in a row where you don't have to go downstairs and some other stuff. You know, like you can kind of pull a wheelchair in if you need. And then there's usually another seat. And I forgot about that. So I got the normal ones. Now I was only one seat down. We were in the fourth row, not second, not the first, but the fourth.
