After a bit of a lucky net call for Jovic, not the first time today.
And now, after an hour and 16 minutes, we have two more match points for Iva Jovic. She had one match point on the turn just a few moments ago, but now she has two more on her side. Serve, a spot in the quarterfinals at stake. Iva Jovic here serves. Where are you gonna go with this serve? Out wide, backhand return. It's a decent return from Alex. It's gonna help her put in charge of the point. Jovic is defending. Now it's gonna be a drop shot, which is not gonna make it, from Alex Eala. Arguably even more dominant than the straight sets when she had recently on the clay at the French Open. I did think that perhaps Eala, maybe this would just be a little bit too much tennis for her in such a short space of time.
In the last eight days, Eala has played seven matches now. So it's a lot of tennis. So a well-earned break for Alex. She'll head off to Berlin, though, in Feinfettel after winning that WTA 125 event last week. And Iva Jovic progresses into the quarter finals after a 6-2, 6-2 win.
She'll play Laura Siegmund or Amanda Anisimova in that quarter final. Those two coming up, I think, later on today, Anisimova and Laura Siegmund. Yes, they might even be next up on this court. That is for a spot in the quarter finals as well, that where Iva Jovic now lies in weight. We will just have a quick look at some of the stats from today, which are as follows. Congratulations on that victory. It looked like a pretty solid win. How would you rate it?
I think it was a good win. Alex is a great player and I think she loves the grass. Having won a title last week was super tough, and I think I just hung in there on those close games and was able to distance myself just enough. But definitely scoreline doesn't show how tough it was. Yes, you two are friendly as well. You can see from the embrace there. And also you played at Roll of Gals a couple of weeks ago as well. 18 and 21 I'm nice to play alongside some of your new friends. Yeah, it's amazing. It's more fun to play doubles with her than being at the same time. So, unfortunately, we had to play in the early rounds, but hopefully we play some finals soon enough.
