ALERT: Does Auburn Have a Byrum Brown PROBLEM | Auburn Podcast

The Auburn Express

September 22, 2026

Auburn football has a Byrum Brown consistency problem, but the bigger question might be what Auburn is asking its quarterback to do in the first place. Brown has shown exactly why Auburn wanted him. He's a tremendous athlete who can create plays that most quarterbacks simply can't make.

When you think about Crocs, you think the classic clog. But did you know there's also a canvas clog? A vegan suede clog, a coastal inspired style. A style with studs, straps, and lots of sass.

Ike Jones (3:10)

He's not great, but he has more. Yeah, I mean, the touchdown-to-interception ratio is nearly one-to-one.

B Wil (3:16)

No, the ratio is terrible.

And so, it's not even defensible his touchdown-to-interception ratio, because the only interception that I think you can even say, OK, that wasn't on him, is the tipped pass in the first game. The other four, it's on you, my boy. Bad throws, bad decisions.

Ike Jones (3:36)

Yeah, I just, I, Golis is owning a lot of Byrum's play.

Mike G (3:43)

I wonder what he's thinking right now.

Ike Jones (3:45)

But I don't, I like, and I appreciate that the coach is owning it. I really do. But I don't, I just don't think he's playing well.

Enough, right? Like I think he plays well in spots and he does things that you don't see quarterbacks normally do because he's a tremendous athlete. And he can do a lot of things that the other guys can't do, but consistency seems to be the issue in doing those things. So, you know, it's, I mean, if he's not turning the ball over, I'm probably singing a different tune. He's sitting here with eight touchdowns and one interception through three games. I probably got no issues with Byrum, but four interceptions just hurts.

Mike G (4:33)

At this point in the season.

Ike Jones (4:34)

Yeah, it really hurts, man. You're margin for error, so it's slim.

B Wil (4:38)

My thing about this is, I don't think Byrum Brown played well. I'm not gonna be the Byrum Brown defender in this one. I think he played well enough for Auburn to win this game.

He made enough plays for Auburn to win this game. And if I'm ranking issues, it doesn't start there. But listen, my film review on him is gonna be brutal. Trust, the film review on Byrum Brown from this game is gonna be brutal. His movement within the pocket, some of the throws that he missed were not good. There's not a positive way to spin.
