ALERT: Auburn’s Offense Is WAY Too Predictable | TWT P8 | Auburn Football Podcast

The Auburn Express

September 30, 2026

WARNING: Auburn football cannot take this version of its first quarter offense on the road to Tennessee. The Tigers are winning games, but the slow starts are becoming impossible to ignore. Auburn has repeatedly struggled to establish offensive rhythm early.

I still think they would have won the game because they could have scored on that last drive, but at the end of the day, yes, you needed that to even put yourself in a position where you don't have to score at the end of the game because you don't get that scoop and score. You're down by a point. It would have been 20 to whatever, like 14 to 19 or whatever it was. Yeah. You'd have been down by a score.

Anyway, they need to be, I'm doing math wrong because they only have 15 points, but it would have been 14 to 15 That's what the score would have been without that scoop and score. They needed that to be able to go in there and win.

Dustin says, we could run read option with a pass tag and succeed just so one-dimensional schematically. The amount of times we had, we run vanilla inside on first downs is terrible. Predictable equals no chance to get rolling.

Mike G (3:49)

Of all the words you used there, predictable is probably the most accurate in my book.

Ike Jones (3:55)

Like when we're sitting there, they're not necessarily running straight up the middle every time, but it's still, it doesn't- It's just predictable. It just doesn't feel, it feels almost like, well, we did this last time, let's do this this time.

Mike G (4:07)

We ran last time, let's throw this time.

Ike Jones (4:09)

Yeah, it doesn't feel like it's specific to the opponents, is what I'm saying. Like it doesn't feel like, oh, we know this team struggles with outside zone, we're going to run outside zone a bunch. We know this team, like their corner over here on this side, we're going to pick on him because he struggles against these kinds of things and he's susceptible to double moves. So we're like, it doesn't feel like a scouted game plan. It feels more like this is what our offense is, let's go run it. Doesn't feel like it. I'm not saying they're not doing it, but I'm saying nothing in the execution feels like, oh, we saw this thing on tape and we're going to abuse this until they prove they can stop it. And so I just want to see more of that. I just want to see more of it. Dustin jumps back in, we're calling it the Robert Kelly Selly.
