This is Mornings with Mark Duffield on S.E.N.WA.
Welcome back to the Harvey Norman Superstore out here at Sandridge Road in Bunbury. We are joined by a local legend, Alan Crane, of course, SEN Spirits commentator. He will be doing the game tomorrow, Crane.

**Alan Crane** (0:34)
I will. Morning, gentlemen. How are we all?

**Scotty Cummings** (0:36)
Great to see you, brother.

**Alan Crane** (0:37)
I'll tell you what, I've got an appointment down on the temper mattress here.

**Scotty Cummings** (0:40)
Well, hey, wait your turn.

**Alan Crane** (0:41)
I was listening to you. I was listening to you, and you said it was nice and solid on the way in.

**Scotty Cummings** (0:46)
You've got... I've got a four or five hour block.
It's locked away. You can have a try after that. Hey, can you tell me, you two go back a long, long way without even knowing it?

**Alan Crane** (0:59)
We do. A very long way, isn't it?

**Mark Duffield** (1:01)
We go back all the way to day one. So on the 26th of January, so Australia Day in 1964, The world was a better place. The world instantly became a better place.

**Alan Crane** (1:16)
What happened?

**Mark Duffield** (1:17)
We were both born on the same day in the same hospital.

**Scotty Cummings** (1:20)
No.

**Alan Crane** (1:21)
That is absolutely correct. Yes.

**Scotty Cummings** (1:23)
Whereabouts?

**Alan Crane** (1:24)
In Boddington.

**Scotty Cummings** (1:25)
Have they burned that joint down yet?

**Alan Crane** (1:27)
There's actually a couple of plaques up there.

**Scotty Cummings** (1:31)
You two were born in the same hospital on the same day. Unbelievable connection.

**Alan Crane** (1:35)
And 62 years later, we're talking.

**Scotty Cummings** (1:37)
Did you ever see each other again?

**Mark Duffield** (1:39)
We did. So, we, when Crane was about 13, well, we're both 13, we're both the same age.
When we were both 13, I think Alan was living down at Cogenup by that time.

**Alan Crane** (1:58)
Before that, Duff, I used to play for Boddington.
Duff was darken. So, we had a bit of a rivalry.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:03)
Didn't like each other?

**Alan Crane** (2:05)
No, I thought he was a great bloke.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:07)
Could he play?

**Alan Crane** (2:08)
Oh, man, a superstar. Well done.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:11)
Crane is a team man.

**Alan Crane** (2:13)
And then I went and joined the West Arthur. And we had some good fun, didn't we, Duff?

**Scotty Cummings** (2:18)
We played together at West Arthur.

**Mark Duffield** (2:19)
We played in the under 14s at West Arthur. I think we've made a preliminary final, I think that year. Crane was the sentiment.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:27)
What?

**Mark Duffield** (2:27)
And I was the center half forward.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:28)
Crane was the sentiment.

**Alan Crane** (2:29)
Yeah, didn't have much to pick from that year. I might.

**Scotty Cummings** (2:34)
He was center forward, so you had a connection then.

**Alan Crane** (2:37)
I'll tell you, he kicked 100 goals and 99 of them come from me. Big Dawson was running around the place.

**Mark Duffield** (2:44)
Yeah, we had a bloke who made the state schoolboys a couple of years later, Peter Dawson, who also made the Tilt Cup team a year or two after that.
Then he stopped growing. He was the biggest away.

**Alan Crane** (2:54)
He was, wasn't he? He was a mature lad. Not like us, a couple of little pins that were running around.

**Scotty Cummings** (3:01)
When did you realise, when did the connection happen that you realised you were born the same day in the same hospital?

**Mark Duffield** (3:05)
Well, I couldn't work out when Alan started...
Then obviously there wouldn't have been too many babies born in Bonnington Hospital that day. In fact, I would say not too many, probably just two, I would think. Just us.

**Alan Crane** (3:23)
I wonder who's the oldest. I never got to the actual timing of it.

**Mark Duffield** (3:27)
We could go back and have a look at hospital records.

**Scotty Cummings** (3:29)
We've gone too far now, right? We've taken that one as far as we can take it, to be honest with you.

**Mark Duffield** (3:35)
So Crane, you're doing the game tomorrow?

**Alan Crane** (3:37)
We are, yes. We're going up.
Darren MacDonald and Nigel Reeves and myself will be... No, Scotty, the last time I did it was with you, mate.

**Scotty Cummings** (3:44)
Well, I did it with you last year and I didn't get another gig, so either Crane not happy or Macca wasn't happy.

**Alan Crane** (3:50)
Well, Macca opened a can of Coke on him.

**Scotty Cummings** (3:52)
