In today's Cloud Wars AI Minute, I look at the tension between AI regulation, industry self-governance, and America’s determination to remain competitive in the global AI race. Hello, and welcome to the Cloud Wars AI Minute. I'm your host, Dwayne Robinson. And on this, we go through all the things that your boss expects you to know about what's going on in the AI world. And the thing that is really going on that's kind of interesting is that we saw some regulatory things happening as the government in the US started to take a look at just AI in general. And we had six of the CEOs of the major AI providers within the world really went over to Washington and started talking about how they were going to do self-regulation. Now, the issue with this is going to be that that agreement has actually no penalties associated with this. So if someone actually breaks the rules, doesn't mean that there's actually any penalties that are going along with this particular situation.

And now, the other interesting part is that two of the six are now actually under FTC investigation over consumer risk. And so we have to really ask ourselves, do we really believe that they're going to properly self-regulate? Now, that being said, there's a lot of things going on in the world right now when it comes to government control and over-governing this particular space. There seems to be some lack of desire to lose the AI race in the industry verticals because of the fact that we're trying to over-regulate it. And so this is where I really anticipate that there's going to be a lot of movement. We need to pay attention to this because they'll have direct impact on what's happening in the AI space. As the government starts to try to figure out how to regulate it, and specifically the US government. Now the other thing is that there is a report that needs to be due to the Trump administration in 120 days. So what I would tell you is over the next 120 days, I would fully expect that we're going to get a lot of movement in this space on what are we going to do specifically around AI, which is now also being kind of formed on super intelligence. Now I believe what they're trying to do here is say that AI governing maybe isn't not as necessary as super intelligence governing. And they're really kind of trying to draw a line in the sand on the difference between artificial intelligence and super intelligence. And so I really think this is going to be interesting to see over the next few months what's going to happen in this space. But we should definitely stay tuned on this because it will have direct impact into what's going to happen around AI, and what kind of regulatory things are going to be done around AI, as the different groups are all jockeying to figure out who's going to be able to win this, and are we going to actually allow for self-regulation in this space in the US government.
