Aloha and good morning and welcome to everyone. All of the people joining us in chat and all of you who are watching just a little later. It's June 17th and it's Wednesday and you're seeing this face and that means it's AI and Science Day. We're gonna cover all the AI news first. I'm joined by Andy and Brian and I, of course, I am Jyunmi.
This is episode 748 and this is The Daily AI Show. Okay, well, before we deep dive, delve into the AI news for today, what has been the week like and the weekend like for you, Brian and Andy?
**Brian Maucere** (0:46)
More of the same for me, working mostly on internal projects with scale, which has been a super nice change of pace after years upon years of almost exclusively working on client side work, but it's really nice. I've had an opportunity to really build internal tools and they're coming out really well. Built something called, basically, I called it a Chief of Staff.
I really, really was pushing on it to be the forefront of what I think AI agents can be, and what a true Chief of Staff. If you were in your role, consultant in my case, and you literally built yourself a Chief of Staff, what would they do? What are they watching?
**Jyunmi Hatcher** (1:54)
Got you.
Andy, how about you? What have you been up to?
**Andy Halliday** (1:57)
Well, I've been coding in Cloud Code 4.8 as well, where I snatch time and try to keep it working even when I'm not available, which because I haven't set it up so that it is like LFG approach, I do have bypass permissions running, so I get an intermediate approach, which is, okay, keep going, try to get to the objective, but interrupt yourself at the point where you feel confident about how you should proceed. So I still have to come back and pick up context again.
I'm curious, Brian, about your application. It sounds like something that could either be delivered as a tool to everybody sitting in a consulting position, and they would use it individually, or it could be something that you're designing to large degree for somebody at the top of the food chain, so to speak. So like Jake, your CEO, is this chief of staff role or application, is that targeted at a specific set of users inside scale?
**Brian Maucere** (3:11)
So without giving too much inside baseball, we have six targeted builds that target different roles. We started with the project manager role and that one has been largely completed is out and now being alpha tested, let's call it. We have people who have access beyond me and one co-worker who have been leading this. And then this week I started on the consultant version of that. So the project manager command center, now the consultant command center. So I will often call them the PMCC and the CCC or the CCC, I guess would be easier, right?
So, you know, in shorthand. So yes, they're specifically geared towards roles at Scaled.
I think in time, there's a lot of overlap with, you know, consultants in general. The goal is obviously here is we work within a lot of systems like a lot of companies do. There's a lot to keep track of. And when you get on even three plus projects, which in some cases, depending on what you're doing, those projects as a consultant can be a lot, you're talking about at least two different Slack threads. You're talking about Gmail. You're talking about all of Google Drive. You're talking about all transcripts, which are not currently done all through the same transcription service, which is a bit of a pain. You're talking about Asana, which is our project management tool. You're talking about Salesforce. So you've got a lot of different things playing. And so the goal here is to, you know, create that command center, for lack of a better word, that's what it's called, to log in at that role and be able to see everything. Now, the Chief of Staff agent that I built this week, I started on Monday and I've largely got it where I want yesterday. And today I've been iterating on it.
It's an agent within the consultant dashboard, agent within the project management tool, and it may find its way into all the other roles. Its full job is to be my Chief of Staff, be my personal Chief of Staff in my role. It looks across everything. And I'll give you one example of where it makes a lot of sense. You have out of office that are coming up. For instance, my company is closed for employees this Friday for Juneteenth.
