The idea of carrying the weight of being an example to my athletes now, I always talk about how when we had our first, it was October 2nd, we were in field hockey season.
A week after I had her, I strapped her to the front of me, and I went to practice. I wanted the girls to see, like, life doesn't stop because you have kids. And as women, like, we have to acknowledge that challenge and then continue on. And as athletes, we've been training for this.
Michelle Obama (0:30)
Yeah.
Craig Robinson (0:31)
Yeah. Hey.
Michelle Obama (0:34)
Hi, Craig.
Craig Robinson (0:35)
How are you?
Michelle Obama (0:36)
I'm doing great.
Craig Robinson (0:37)
Good.
Michelle Obama (0:38)
A little rainy. It's been, we're in DC recording now.
Craig Robinson (0:42)
We are. We are. But it's not cold. Unusually rainy. It's not cold.
Michelle Obama (0:45)
Well, to you, because you live in the deep tundra. Is this cold for you? Yeah.
Craig Robinson (0:50)
Yeah.
Michelle Obama (0:51)
I mean, and it's interesting because I'm, you know, I...
Craig Robinson (0:54)
You're from Chicago.
Michelle Obama (0:55)
I'm from Chicago, but...
And I used to tease people from DC about what they thought cold was, but I'm getting that way. I mean, it feels chilly. And it's like in the high 60s, low 70s, and it's like, ooh, there's chill in the air.
Craig Robinson (1:14)
If we weren't here, I would probably have shorts on.
Michelle Obama (1:18)
Because that's how it is in cold weather climates.
Craig Robinson (1:21)
You keep the shorts until it's about 65
Michelle Obama (1:23)
Well, you know, like you go through a stretch of zero degrees and then 50 feels like summer. I mean, literally people in Chicago go to the beach. If it's sunny and 55, folks are at the beach.
Craig Robinson (1:35)
Blankets and picnics and everything.
Michelle Obama (1:37)
Maybe not even a blanket. It's like, ooh, it's hot. It's hot.
Craig Robinson (1:41)
All right.
Michelle Obama (1:42)
But we've got a-
Craig Robinson (1:43)
Fun show.
Michelle Obama (1:45)
Very fun show.
Craig Robinson (1:47)
You know I'm under a lot of pressure.
Michelle Obama (1:49)
Tell me.
Craig Robinson (1:49)
Because this is Kelly's second favorite podcast.
Michelle Obama (1:54)
Thanks for saying that. We still beat-
Craig Robinson (1:56)
Yeah, I know. We still rate. We still rate.
Michelle Obama (1:59)
We've got Kylie Kelce with us today. And Craig, why don't you do the introduction so that we can get into it.
Craig Robinson (2:10)
I will. Well, Kylie Kelce is a former collegiate field hockey player, advocate for the Eagles Autism Foundation, wife of retired NFL center Jason Kelce, and mom of four girls. A proud Philly suburb native, she now coaches, yay, coach, high school field hockey and host the popular podcast, Not Gonna Lie.
Without further ado, you like that pause?
Michelle Obama (2:40)
No, I did not.
Craig Robinson (2:41)
Not at all. It was for effect. Not at all. Coach Kylie Kelce.
Welcome. So nice to meet you.
Michelle Obama (2:58)
Welcome to IMO. Thank you so much.
Kylie Kelce (3:01)
This is so exciting.
Michelle Obama (3:03)
Well, we spent time together, but this is the first time we met.
Craig Robinson (3:06)
I get to touch you.
Kylie Kelce (3:07)
I'm literally face to face.
Craig Robinson (3:09)
Oh, so you, when you did her show, you did it on Zoom. We did it virtually. Yes.
Michelle Obama (3:13)
We did it on Zoom. And why did we do Zoom? What was it going on? Were you pregnant then and I was somewhere else?
Kylie Kelce (3:19)
I think so. Yes. I think I was very pregnant then, if I remember correctly. Yes.
Craig Robinson (3:26)
And why wasn't I invited?
Michelle Obama (3:28)
Because we didn't want you there.
Kylie Kelce (3:30)
It was a small oversight, and we're going to correct that very soon. You don't even know what you just signed yourself up for.
Michelle Obama (3:40)
And then now, you better go.
Craig Robinson (3:42)
Oh, believe me. Believe me, I'm telling you, my wife loves you and your show.
Kylie Kelce (3:48)
It's that Northeast connection. That's what that is.
Michelle Obama (3:50)
No, no. There's everybody loves you.
Kylie Kelce (3:51)
Well, she's in New Jersey, right?
Michelle Obama (3:53)
Yes, she is.
Kylie Kelce (3:55)
We find each other.
Craig Robinson (3:56)
She do, and she went to school at Juniata.
Kylie Kelce (3:59)
Okay. Right down the street. I love it.
Craig Robinson (4:02)
She was a college softball player.
Kylie Kelce (4:04)
Okay.
Craig Robinson (4:05)
So there's a lot of connection there, and she's a mother of four.
