Hey, our ride's almost here.

Are you ready?

SPEAKER_3 (0:03)

Just grabbing my shoes.

Ryan (0:05)

That's what you said ten minutes ago.

SPEAKER_3 (0:07)

I just wrapped a video call, uploading this giant file on my tablet, looking at my WatchGo bananas with the group chat, and of course, still lining up tonight's playlist on my phone.

SPEAKER_2 (0:17)

All at once?

SPEAKER_3 (0:18)

Yep, story of my life. That's why I switched to T-Mobile. They have the fastest 5G network.

Ryan (0:23)

OK, multitasker, I see you.

SPEAKER_3 (0:26)

Honestly, I never imagined I could do all this at once. It's awesome.

Ryan (0:31)

Say no more, I'm totally switching.

SPEAKER_3 (0:34)

My post is taking way too long to upload. That's a sign. You've got to get T-Mobile.

Chris McMonigle (0:41)

So many reasons to join T-Mobile.

This is the Go Get Em Podcast.

Ryan (1:05)

Big Mac, McMonigle, go get them, buddy.

Chris McMonigle (1:09)

Now here's Chris McMonigle.

And go get them we shall. Welcome to the Go Get Em Podcast with me, Chris McMonigle, here on this Wednesday evening as the Yankees, as we just took a freaking gut punch. Today was a freaking nightmare. So today, today is rough. Yankees have been playing well. Yankees had the five and one homestand we were looking for. Yankees took the first two games against Minnesota. Things have been trending in the right direction. Outside of maybe Cole, everything was feeling pretty good. Even if you, you know, they go into today, they get the rally.

You get the big hit from Volpe, but ultimately, you lose another heartbreaking game. And of course, the main subject here is Judge, as Judge leaves the game in the sixth pinch hit for. And we find out that it's tightness after being scared that there's an oblique or a re-injury of his rib or a back issue or whatever it could have been. It is a lower leg injury and we are all waiting to find out if the Yankees still have a season. Now, you know, again, could they win without Judge?

SPEAKER_2 (2:30)

Yes, they could.

Chris McMonigle (2:32)

They could. I wouldn't call the season over. I wouldn't stop watching. I'm not going to declare them dead if Judge goes on the IL or is out for the season, which again, we don't know right now. And we'll break down exactly what Judge said, although he's so freaking cryptic about all of this. It's impossible to get a really good feel for how he's feeling.

I know we're going to be super negative about this because we lean that way as a fan base, unfortunately, but just brutal, just brutal. But let's start with the main thing that we can, has been, you know, if you were being fair about it, for the last two weeks, it's been an uphill battle, to put it kindly, to chase down the Rays in the division. The Yankees have been playing well. The Yankees have won, I think now it's 29 in their last 29 games. Like they've been playing well, they've been winning. They're 15 and eight, or no, yeah, 15 and seven doesn't matter. They've been winning seven and three in the last 10, but the Rays have been better. The Rays went again tonight and beat the A's. I didn't see any of the highlights. I don't know what happened in the game. I'm sure Kavanaugh hit another walk-off home run probably, but I saw that the Rays won, obviously, and now the division lead is five in the loss column. And I think today, first and foremost, before we get into anything else about what's going on with the team, anything else going on with Judge, I think now it is time for the Yankees to, I don't know if I want to say call off the Dogs, because you're still trying to win games and play well going into the postseason. But they're now five in the loss column with four to play against them. Like, barring, again, the Yankees winning all three in Arizona and the Rays losing three out of the next four, right? The one last one against the A's, and then they go play Boston. So, like, if they get swept by Boston and the Yankees, if they pick up three games over the next three days, like, okay, maybe it's back on. But the likelihood of that is slim. They're playing excellent baseball right now. They're pitching their ass off. They're coming through with the big hits. The Tampa Bay Rays are going to win the division, and the Yankees are locked into a wild card against the Boston Red Sox, and they need to plan accordingly and treat it as such. I mean, that's really outside of the judge stuff, which it's hard to comment on because we don't have all the information just yet. But first and foremost, off of today's loss, where the Yankees do come back in the game, they score two in the ninth off of a Volpe double, they get one in the 10th, one in the 11th. Bases loading, nobody out in the 12th can't come through, and that Ramos at bat today really feels like the signature moment of when they lost the division. Like, it just feels like that's the moment when people look back on and go, he couldn't come through and drive in a run, put a ball in the air, even hit into a normal double play, would have at least scored a run, but instead he gets the one, two, three double play, feels like that kind of ended it. So that's like the one thing, first and foremost for me leaving the game, ugly loss to a Minnesota Twins team that they own. And when Volpe gets that hit, you figure they gotta find a way to win that game in extra innings. They're terrible in extra innings and terrible on the road in extra innings. They're good at home in extra innings. They're terrible on the road. But again, I don't get hung up on that all that much. I know many people do.
