Joe Sheehan (0:35)
Let's go, Gill.
Gill Alexander (0:36)
Special Numbers Game Investigation reveals the NBA season tips off today. I believe that's how you're supposed to say it. Yeah, man. Including a day game.
The NBA and NBC and Peacock trying to start this new tradition. I love it. Of multiple NBA games on opening day, one of which will be right in the middle of the day. Yeah. Noon Pacific, 3 Eastern.
Jake Hahn (0:55)
Yeah. Buckle in.
Gill Alexander (0:56)
I'll be on the couch. Buckle in. I got multiple bets on that game. Do you really? Yeah. OK. Care to share now or you want to share later? Celtics, I took the points and I played the under. OK. I think we're done for the day. It's flipped.
Also on the show, Joe Sheehan. World Series set. We get the two number one seats. Milwaukee, Tampa Bay starting Friday in Milwaukee. We'll get Joe's thoughts on that. Also look back at the ALCS between the Rays and the Guardians, which ended last night. Rays witted in six with a big win last night. Rays headed back to the World Series for the third time in franchise history. So you have one of these rare situations where both franchises looking for their first World Series title. Last time we had a situation like that, where both teams were looking, both franchises looking for their first World Series title. 1980 Really? Phillies and Royals. Where Tug McGraw and the Phillies took them down. Yeah. So that's fun. We'll talk to Joe about that. Jake Hahn, a little hockey heat check coming up on the show. We will do our Survivor segment, despite the fact that Kelley and I are bounced. See you.
We'll also do our power rankings as well. Hopefully, the new DVOA rankings will be out, so we'll get to juxtapose against that. Power rankings, man. I don't know what you make of this league anymore after this weekend. But we gave it a crack. We'll do that as well.
And then Mark Borchardt on baseball later, Pete Futak, College Football, Drew Densick. I buried our regular on Tuesday, Drew. Talk week six in the rearview mirror, week seven ahead of us here with Drew coming up. Will Kapper. Let's begin with last night's football game, as is the case, is what we always do here on the show. Washington, San Francisco, a tale of two halves.
San Francisco opens this game, the 5-0 Niners. They go nine plays, 64 yards. No problem. Purdy to kill from 11 outs, seven and nothing Niners. Then Washington, Jaden to McLaurin for 27 to start, but three plays later to Diggs, right in his belly for a would-be first down, drops it. Stevens, 51 yard field goal. Good first points given up by the Niners on the first drive, first opponent's drive all year long. Seven, three Niners. Niners take it right back, eight plays, 72 yards. Easy peasy. Purdy to Evans for 54 to start. Puts it to fourth and three at the 11 Purdy for seven with his feet. Three plays later, CMC in from one. Pinheiro misses the extra point wide right. 13-3, San Francisco.
Washington then a three and out after a hold sets him back. And really the story of that drive, Terry McLorin's left knee just gives out, untouched.
Bad. Taking a already miserable season into more misery. The heart and soul of that team could be significant, according to coach Dan Quinn. McLorin will undergo more testing today to determine the severity of the injury. I would probably change could be to sure looks like it is significant.
Joe Sheehan (3:50)
It's just getting sad with McLorin.
Gill Alexander (3:52)
Like it just feels like we're headed towards he's going to be one of the more underappreciated receivers of our time. And you may recall that when they were in that contract dispute with him, his biggest fan, me, actually said, I don't know if you can do this because there's an age curve to this stuff. I just felt so bad for just awful. The tech started flying around when that happened last night. Washington, next time they got the ball from their 41, gets a fourth and two at the San Francisco 13
