Hello, and welcome to Beyond The Title. I'm your host, Kristelle. I'm very proud to have business coach, founder of Boss Lady, and female empowerment community Boss Lady events. Please welcome Jada Perfect. Hi.
Jada Perfect (0:18)
Welcome.
Kristelle (0:20)
Nice to have you here. I'm very excited to have you here today. Nice to see you again.
Jada Perfect (0:24)
We've been chatting together for years, you and I, so it's nice to have something actually pen to paper.
Kristelle (0:29)
Yes, it is, it is. I love the name Jada Perfect, by the way.
How did that all come about? I'm intrigued to know.
Jada Perfect (0:37)
So it actually came about from my sister. My sister used to call me Perfect all the time. And then it flew on, like it literally flew on from there and it just stuck. And then I realised, wow, everyone's, no one's calling me my name. Everyone's calling me Perfect, which then grew into Boss Lady. So yeah, that's where it came from. It came from my sister and then I just kind of stuck with it. And then I realised, from a branding perspective, this is very memorable.
Kristelle (1:03)
It is a very memorable name.
Jada Perfect (1:04)
It's a standout. So then I started to market myself as Jada Perfect, but that's not really my full legal name. Oh, I know.
Kristelle (1:13)
Yeah, okay. So, and then for people that don't know you, they know you as Boss Lady, who is Jada Perfect then?
Jada Perfect (1:21)
Jada Perfect is someone who cares for women. I definitely think I'm an advocate and voice for women, both in the community and within my circle of friends and also my family. And that's the person who I continue to show up as. So I feel like Jada Perfect originally kind of started as like a bit of a joke, a bit of a nickname, but then it grew into my fundamental values as a woman. And then I started realizing that there is no actual definition of perfect, but this is my definition of what I think is a good person, of good values, that does good business, that obviously has a voice, that is, you know, proud to speak up and say what she feels and thinks. So I grew more into the name in terms of the woman that I want to be and aspire to be, or, you know, very similar to the woman that sometimes we need.
Kristelle (2:07)
Definitely. And I think that what you just said is really important about speaking up. I feel like as time goes on, you know, especially young women tend to not speak up and feel confident enough to do that. But you inspire a lot of women to do that. I think you also inspired me a bit more along the way. I remember you asked me to be one of your guests on your panel. And I mean, the first thing I said was no, I was like, no, no, absolutely not. But then I thought about it a bit more. And here I thought to myself, well, here I am, asking Boss Lady, telling people, hey, step out of your comfort zone. And here I am going, no. So I thought about it and I think I spoke to you.
Jada Perfect (2:42)
It was excellent.
Kristelle (2:43)
We chatted and I felt comfortable with the way you approached it.
Jada Perfect (2:45)
Oh, thank you.
Kristelle (2:46)
So, and that's what made me go, yeah, okay, I'll do it. And it was one of the things that kind of, I think this kind of inspired me to come to this point now.
So thank you for that. Thank you.
Jada Perfect (2:55)
You're so welcome. I'm so happy hearing that.
Kristelle (2:57)
Yeah, it was definitely a changing moment for me, so.
Jada Perfect (3:00)
And sometimes that's what it is. It's that person that puts that little bit of in you, where you think, oh, hold on, wait, is that how I'm perceived? Is that how I'm seen? And then you start realising, I don't think I'm showing up as that all the time, but that person sees that within me, and I need to start actually utilising my voice and sharing my power with people, which is obviously now what you're doing from then, you know what I mean?
Kristelle (3:23)
Yes, and sometimes it's only, you know, some people just need a word of encouragement. You know, and a lot of people don't hear that these days.
Jada Perfect (3:29)
Yeah.
Kristelle (3:29)
Just in general, I think, I would say even my parents' generation, they didn't really have that encouragement.
