**Glen James** (0:06)
Today on What Would Glenn Do, we are talking with Jasmine and Dave. They're here in the studio. If you are watching on YouTube, you'll see that they're a little bit blurred out for their privacy or privacy, if you are from England. And look, we're gonna have a good chat. If you are new to the What Would Glenn Do, listeners of the show, they'll write in, they'll give me a heap of information. So I'll ask what I would do in their situation. I'll then proceed to say what I would do if I was in their situation. Remember, turn down the outrage, because if I say something that you don't agree with, that's fine, because this is what Glenn would do, not what you would do or what anyone should or could do. But we will get into it very soon. And I'm just letting everyone know, if you like this style of episode only, if you particularly listen on Apple or Spotify, there is a dedicated podcast called WWGD with Glenn James. And we're still putting these up on the Thursday main show. But if you just froth on these type of episodes only, there's a dedicated feed for you to enjoy.
Well, we're going to get into it right now. My name is Glenn James, and you are listening to What Would Glenn Do.
Before we get into it, this show is general advice only. I've got a license to provide that advice. Full details can be found in the show description. My name is Glenn James, former financial advisor. I host this show and a show called Retiree. I've got some books, the award winning Quick-Start Guide to Investing and The Quick-Start Guide to Your First Property, available where good books are sold or in the description. If you're new here, welcome. If you're in old hand, welcome to M3. Let's get into it right now.
Jasmine and Dave, welcome to The Bombshell.
**Jasmine** (2:01)
Thanks for having us. Thank you.
**Glen James** (2:02)
Okay. I've got a few questions. Before I ask, what would you want to know that I would do?
When usually a couple, when I meet a couple who listen to the show or a couple comes in, one of them is like, I always listen to this podcast and I think I'm getting the answer here and the other one is the passenger. Who, Dave or Jasmine, who's the passenger and who's the listener?
**Jasmine** (2:27)
I'm definitely the listener. I've listened to almost every episode since we discovered the podcast in about 2021, I think it was.
**Glen James** (2:36)
Please accept my apologies.
**Jasmine** (2:39)
And I sent selected ones to Dave to listen to.
**Glen James** (2:43)
And what's your shtick? Do you like enjoy personal finance podcast, Dave or you're just interested in sometimes different topics or?
**Dave** (2:51)
Tony Migos, jazz sends them to me.
**Glen James** (2:54)
And you do what you're told?
**Dave** (2:56)
Pretty much.
**Glen James** (2:56)
Yeah, nice, nice. Okay, cool. And that just gives me some colour with what I'm dealing with.
**Dave** (3:03)
I've listened to two.
**Glen James** (3:04)
Okay. Well, there you go.
**Jasmine** (3:07)
There's a whole playlist of them waiting for him to listen to them. He's not going to listen.
**Dave** (3:10)
No.
**Jasmine** (3:11)
Trust me.
**Glen James** (3:12)
Trust me. Okay. I've got a heap of questions, but what would you like to ask me?
**Jasmine** (3:19)
We have a plan that we'd like to hit the eject button and move from Sydney to regional New South Wales and in that process be mortgage free. And we want to know if you think our plan is realistic or if you think we're wildly off base.
And then once we do get there, we want to know what you do next to avoid having to work full time until you're 67
**Glen James** (3:40)
Okay, so let's now, I've got some questions already, but I'm going to wait. So for those that are new, I'll just go through and just collect data, then we'll clarify, then I'll basically say what I would do. Okay, so how old are we? I don't know if, do you want to take the lead on just some of the data collection, Jasmine, and if Dave, if something's forgot, maybe just jump in?
**Jasmine** (4:06)
Sure, absolutely. So I'm 39 and I work in a government job.
**Glen James** (4:12)
Sweet.
**Jasmine** (4:12)
I'm on about 115,000 plus super.
**Glen James** (4:17)
And just on that government job, is there an option to work remotely or are you face to face?
**Jasmine** (4:23)
I'm quite lucky. I do get to work mostly from home. But being government, we do need to have some face to face office time.
