9/8/26 - Week 1 Waiver Wire: Fantasy Football Pickups to Win Now

What is up, welcome to week one. You'll notice something very strange about today's show. No Josh Hudson. Have you guys ever had a scenario where your boss asks you to come to work and then all of a sudden, he breaks both of his ankles and you end up having to do the show by yourself?

Anyway, Josh isn't here, but the shows must go on, especially since I promised, let's get into it.

Good morning and welcome to WireTapped. This is Club Fantasy's weekly waiver wire show. And for the first time ever, we have decided to do a show for what I'm calling week zero. Week one officially kicks off tomorrow night, but we're not gonna do a show tomorrow night. We did our week one preview last Wednesday. You'll find that in the YouTube channel. Just go check it out. But we wanted to run a waiver wire show, and Josh thought it was a great idea, and then Josh had a bit of a mishap this weekend. I was only halfway joking. He only broke one of his ankles. He messed the other one up pretty badly as well though. So all of our thoughts and prayers to Josh Hudson. I'm sure he's probably watching the show right now. Get better, buddy. We were already planning on taking tomorrow off, so we should hopefully have Josh back for next Wednesday. We did want to look at the waivers going into this week. If you happen to be in Scott Fishbowl, waivers are running tomorrow night, or they're running tonight for tomorrow. So there are leagues where waivers matter right now, especially if you drafted back in July, like a lot of folks did in Scott Fishbowl. How I am going to do this show, if you followed Club Fantasy for any period of time, you know solo shows are not my favorite, or really anyone's favorite. In fact, I think I'm the only one who's ever done solo shows for Club Fantasy. I hate it because I already talk fast, and I end up just talking faster. It's really hard to keep up with the chat as well. Good morning, Caesar. I see you there. Mike Hall, give me just a few moments here. Let me break down how the show is going to go. Because again, I hate solo shows. I am going to break down waivers for every position. Starting next week, the layout is a lot more fun for the show, but for this week, we just wanted to kind of get you the information since we promised the show on Saturday, and then we weren't going to be able to get to that show without Josh. So, I'm going to go quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end. In between every single segment, I am going to break down or I'm going to go through the chat and try to answer every single question that's asked. I will not let a question get by unanswered. So, the focus of the show will be on waivers, but if you guys have waiver questions, start sit. Mike Hall has a great prop question. We're going to get that out there as well. So, let me go ahead and throw Mike Hall up on the screen right now.

Mike asks, is Luther Burden going to score in week one or no?

The issue with Burden is health. It seems like he is going to be healthy for this week, and they should be in a position to score. I think it's very likely Roma Dunze is going to see JC. Horn. That's going to open things up for Burden. I don't know how well this running game is going to fare, especially if Kyle Menunggai is also not healthy. So, I do think there's a situation where Luther Burden certainly scores this week. If you're getting the right odds, I would bet on yes to score. But the fact of the matter is this, you also need to be monitoring his health. I'm kind of pulling up the Fantasy Pro's rankings right now. He comes in as my wide receiver 28, so I don't love him. It's all going to come down. He did practice yesterday.

Oh, I'm sorry, this was a week ago. He practiced last Tuesday. So, there hasn't been many updates. It sounds like he is probably healthy. If you're getting good odds, I'll bet on Burden to score. I'm not going to put a ton of money on it, but I would bet on Luther Burden to score this week.

The Carolina Panthers, again, they're pretty good at shutting down wide receiver ones. I think Burden is likely to line up or be treated as the wide receiver two in this matchup.
