Optimal, minimal. At this altitude, I can run flat out for a half mile before my hands start shaking.

Tim Ferriss (0:06)

Can I answer your personal question?

Kevin Rose (0:24)

Kev Kev, Tim Tim.

Tim Ferriss (0:26)

Good to see you, man.

Kevin Rose (0:26)

Dude, glad we're doing this.

Tim Ferriss (0:28)

Yeah, so fun to hang.

Kevin Rose (0:29)

Back in LA.

Tim Ferriss (0:30)

Back in LA for a little bit, and it is a nice corner of the world.

Kevin Rose (0:36)

It's not bad.

Tim Ferriss (0:37)

Until the failed state implodes, it's gonna be lovely.

Kevin Rose (0:40)

Yeah. It's, we'll enjoy what we can.

Tim Ferriss (0:44)

Yeah. So you have lots that we can talk about. I've got some things jotted down.

Where should we start?

Kevin Rose (0:52)

Let's start with probably the most talked about thing these days, which is AI.

And I know people are tired of hearing about all this AI stuff, but I think there's been an inflection point in the last, I'd call it three weeks, that I am just really blown away by. Like AI has turned into something. I kind of saw it coming, but I didn't think it would come this rapidly. So when I first thought of AI, I thought, okay, we have this chat bot, we can launch it, we can ask questions of whatever. I got to repair this light switch. How do I do it? That's a typical AI use case over the last two years.

In the last month, there has been a release of a handful of AI assistants that are not your typical ChatGPT, Clawed, they're different. So have you played with instinct at all?

Tim Ferriss (1:43)

I haven't, but I know people are, yeah. So you should provide some context for folks who don't recognize it.

Kevin Rose (1:49)

So let's start off. So let me first put the, these are the people in the ring that are entering this new era of personal assistant AI, which is I would say instinct, Muse, which is a meta product. And then you have Grok Bot, which is essentially Grok, which is Elon's project. So when instinct dropped, someone sent me a text invite was like, hey, you just got to sign up for this. I'm like, oh man, I don't want another AI thing. Like, you know, I already do this all day long. I'm using for coding and all that stuff, like whatever. So the first thing that you notice is this not another app to download.

It actually is iMessage. So they have reverse engineered and they actually give you just a phone number to chat with.

Tim Ferriss (2:28)

It's closer to WeChat in China.

Kevin Rose (2:30)

Yeah, exactly. So I have this phone number. I texted it. It was like, hey, auth your Google account. And like, I know this is your nightmare. I'm trying to see the standpoint.

But it's like, you know, give us your Gmail, give us your Google Drive.

Tim Ferriss (2:41)

Here's a link.ru, just click here.

Kevin Rose (2:44)

Yeah, exactly. It's like Russian site or something. But I click through, I auth it. I'm like, whatever, there's some hype. I hear it happening. People are doing this. Like, I don't have any, like, nudes, but you probably do. Like, I don't know. I don't know how much you keep all that stuff online. Probably, Don.

Tim Ferriss (2:58)

What was this?

Kevin Rose (2:58)

Your nudes. You keep it in Google Drive.

Tim Ferriss (3:03)

I just post those to my Tumblr account. No, it's your private Tumblr. Yeah.

Kevin Rose (3:07)

In all seriousness, though, do you lock down? Like, do you have a separate offline storage for, like, sensitive shit?

Tim Ferriss (3:13)

I probably should. Yeah, you should. We should talk about this off camera.

Kevin Rose (3:16)

Like, there's certain things that, like, in my mind, I'm always like, okay, what's the blast radius if something gets hacked?

Tim Ferriss (3:24)

What is out there? Kevin gives me to worry about. Yeah, exactly.

Kevin Rose (3:28)

So, okay, so you auth in everything. And the first thing I notice is that this bot texts me back. And it's like, hey, you missed this doc you signed from a couple of days ago. And I was like, oh shit, well, that was like kind of helpful. You know, so I went in there and like did it. And then it's proactively just watching everything.

And it learns by my responses, everything I've done prior. And it really understands what I care about and what I should pay attention to.

Tim Ferriss (3:54)

And who manufactures Instinct?
