What's up, everybody?
Haresh (0:48)
Welcome to another episode of Yah Lah But. Your thrice weekly podcast where we talk about the hottest news with a touch of what, Terence?
Terence (0:57)
Good old humor.
Haresh (0:58)
Good old humor, man.
Terence (1:00)
Yeah.
Haresh (1:00)
How was the weekend, man?
Terence (1:01)
Well, we're in the midst of a very beautiful European summer day. I couldn't believe it. I walked to the bus stop today and I didn't break a sweat, man.
This morning is crazy.
Haresh (1:13)
The gray skies, the melancholic weather. I think we hit a new low temperature at Clementi over the weekend, 20 plus, 22 degrees, less than 22 degrees or something.
Terence (1:25)
And what preceded that was like the haze. It went pretty bad on Saturday as well.
Haresh (1:32)
Yeah. And the hottest temperature in Woodlands, I think.
Terence (1:35)
Wow, it's crazy how the temperature just swung over the weekend. Yeah.
Haresh (1:39)
So the highest temperature, the joint highest September temperature recording in Woodlands two days ago.
Terence (1:44)
Yeah.
Haresh (1:46)
Apparently, it was about 35.8 degrees.
Terence (1:50)
Yeah. So how do you commemorate, you know, whether it's the hot or the cold weather, like, did you do anything special to better enjoy it?
Haresh (2:00)
I mean, like yesterday, whenever I could walk outdoors, I would.
I would walk. And because I like the pitter-patter of light rain. So there were some points where there was light rain.
Terence (2:11)
Like, there wasn't even light in the afternoon? There was light in the afternoon, where I was.
Haresh (2:15)
But then, when my wife and I and our kid, we were driving to the in-laws, I just made a detour to go to the CBD at about 11 plus, because when we were driving on the ECP, we couldn't barely see the buildings. And I was like, yeah, okay. We just have to drive through the force of nature.
Terence (2:36)
For what?
Haresh (2:37)
Just to see the power of the rain.
Terence (2:39)
Oh, I see. You're not scared of getting caught in flash floods or anything?
Haresh (2:43)
I mean, I think it was early enough that the, didn't occur to me.
Terence (2:48)
Okay.
I took out my camera, I think, like when I drove out, thinking that, oh, if there's haze or what, then maybe there'll be some special photos that I can take. But I think the biggest thing I did to enjoy, accentuate the weather was like, I actually walked out and went to eat some of my favorite foods that normally when you eat in hot weather, it's like, wow, you don't enjoy it all. But you eat in cold weather, wow, shit.
Haresh (3:12)
Like what?
Terence (3:13)
I had fish soup, like when it was like pouring, I stopped at a hawker center, had fish soup. Then I also had hor fun, like in the evening. Wow, everything tastes 10 times better in this weather, man.
Haresh (3:25)
I mean, everything is just better. I mean, okay, granted, it's a bit more difficult to get around. Just the mood and all that.
I can imagine some people saying they don't like the gray skies and all, but I love it. And I looked it up on apparently on Sunday at about 12, 20 PM, temperature and clemency was 20.7 degrees.
Terence (3:45)
Amazing.
Haresh (3:45)
20.7, so 35.8 at Woodlands the day before, 20.7. It makes Singapore sound like a huge country.
Terence (3:54)
Yeah, it's the same with the haze also, right? The haze was very bad in central, but some other parts was different and all.
Haresh (3:59)
Yeah, but I mean, this cool weather is coming earlier this year, very early.
Terence (4:02)
I don't know whether it's just El Nino.
Haresh (4:05)
El Nino plus the haze. Then I heard speculative theories about, you know, it's clouds reading and all that.
