8/8/26 - 10-Team PPR IDP Mock Draft: When Should You Draft Defense?

What is up? Good morning and welcome to Mock It Like It's Hot. It is time for yet another mock draft, and I only have one question for you.
Do you like points? Specifically, do you like fantasy points? That is straight from my friend Joe Zolo. Whenever we talk IDP, he talks about more scoring. And that is right, we are dipping our toes, and I emphasize dipping our toes, into IDP this morning. A lot of people get intimidated when you bring this up. A lot of people think you're talking about insane composting in the chat right now, Vince Mapstone. But we are talking about individual defensive players and just maybe adding a few of them to your home league. It's going to be a fun mock draft. Let's get into it.

Glad to be back home. If you saw the Wednesday show, you can see I was traveling for work this week, so glad to be back in my own computer, back in the own house, even though this is not the week to be in Canton, if you're a Canton resident, but glad to be back.

It's funny, it's the week for everyone else to be in Canton, but Canton residents are like, why the hell do we do this every year? But the economy enjoys the money. We're not going to lie about that. I told Joel this before the show, my wife, I'm born and raised in Stark County, where the Football Hall of Fame is. My wife this morning said, what the fuck is Drew Brees doing at the Belden Village Raising Cane's? I was like, it's Hall of Fame week, that the celebrity sightings are abound.

So yeah, I know Austin does and loves IDP, but I'm going to be perfectly honest. I don't know that I've ever done an IDP mock with Austin, but Joel, I know you've been into IDP for a while. I had to ask Alec, because Alec, we've only ever done like one league together. So I was happy to hear you were also excited for IDP. In fact, let's delay no further. And let me get this draft on the screen.
Yes, we are going to do a 10-team mock with IDP. I will explain the draft settings in a moment, but I'm going to go ahead and start the draft now so that we are not delaying any further.
As mentioned, 10 teams, IDP. But I don't want people to get intimidated. I kept the draft small, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, one quarterback, no kickers in defense this time around. And I added four IDP. In fact, I'm not going to bring up the settings.
One defensive lineman, one linebacker, one DB, and one IDP flex. I believe this is the best way to casually introduce your league to IDP. A lot of people just add an IDP flex. I find that worthless. We will talk about that later on the show. But again, for the draft settings, PPR draft, pretty basic offense, a little bit of defense. If you have followed Mock It Like It's Hot for any period of time, you know what I'm about to say. We do not judge every single team on this show. We talk about interesting picks. I have a little bit of a show sheet. We're going to talk a lot about IDP draft strategy, maybe not about IDP players necessarily. But I do like to start by just thanking everybody who is drafting with us. A ton of you are in the YouTube chat right now. We have Funday Draft starting at the 1-1, Sewat again on all of my mocks starting at the 2, Jeremi at the 3, Alec took the 4, Duarte at the 5, Andrea, welcome my little 8 team drafter taking the 6 spot, Melted Pear, a new name taking the 7 spot, though they might auto draft, so now they're going to be my enemy. Joel got the 8 spot, Frito Bandito who's been in a ton of mocks with us at the 9, and Vince Mapstone at the 10 I find this hilarious. I am in an active draft right now, maybe two with Frito Bandito, Vince Mapstone, Joel Duarte, so we just keep drafting together, and that's just how it goes sometimes. Melted Pear is going to be our first auto drafter of the day, but we're not upset about that.
