Flipping Tables

In April a congresswoman pinned "Read the book of Enoch" to the top of her feed, and a cable host told America the government made a deal with demons for the bomb. They're pointing at a real book.

On April 18th, 2026, Representative Anna Polina Luna of Florida, a member of the House Oversight Committee who has chaired its task force on declassifying federal secrets since early 2025, pinned a four word post to the top of her account on X, quote, read the Book of Enoch, end quote. Beneath it, she shared a 15th century panel by Domenico Ghirlandao and Mandana and the Child and the Infant St. John, because a dark oval in the painted sky behind the Virgin has circulated for years as a Renaissance UFO. Within 48 hours, Google search traffic for the phrase Book of Enoch had spiked. Her replies were full of, quote, the truth is in plain sight, end quote, and a congresswoman had made a Jewish apocalypse from the third century BCE, a talking point in the disclosure debate. The ground had been prepared. In early November 2025, Tucker Carlson told Megan Kelly on her program that unidentified flying objects were not extraterrestrial craft but spiritual entities, angels and demons. On Steve Bannon's war room, he went further and suggested the United States government has been hiding those entities and may have made a deal with them to obtain nuclear technology because the force that created nuclear technology in the first place were not human forces. On February 19, 2026, five days after Barack Obama made headlines saying aliens are real, Donald Trump directed the Department of War and the intelligence agencies to identify and release every government file on UFOs, unidentified anomalous phenomena, and extraterrestrial life. On May 8, the first trench went live on the public portal, 162 files, FBI flying disk memoranda from 1947 through 1968, modern cockpit video, and a reminder from the Pentagon that its 2024 historical review had found no evidence of non-human intelligence. So the loudest voices in American public life were pointing to a book and the book deserves better than they're giving it. First Enoch is older than every document in the New Testament, one New Testament letter quotes it by name is Prophecy, two others paraphrase it, the men who wrote the Gospels grew up in a world where its story of angels descending on Mount Hermon was simply what happened before the flood. It is the source, not the Bible, for the Christian doctrines of demons, of a hell prepared for fallen angels, of the archangel Michael as heaven's enforcer, of the seven archangels, of Satan's fall from pride, of the Nephilim. It was pushed out of Jewish canon by the rabbis after 70 CE and out of the Christian canon by Augustine in the 5th century, and the same decades by the same process that nearly removed the Book of Revelation. And for a thousand years, the only complete copy on earth sat in the monasteries of Ethiopia, in a language no European could read, until a Scottish explorer carried three manuscripts out of the Highlands in 1773 This is the history of that book, what it says, what it did to the Bible, and why you probably never read it. I'm Monty Maeder and this is the Book of Enoch on Flipping Tables.

Hello everybody, welcome back. A couple super fast announcements here. Flipping Tables are going to get quite a bit shorter for the time being. My schedule is just really difficult to keep up with right now, but I don't want to discontinue the podcast. So these episode lengths are going to drop down to anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. So it will be a little more abbreviated, a lot more deconstruction oriented. That being said, I am traveling all but five days of the Book of October, of the month of October. And so when I am in Scotland for my birthday, I may skip a week. I'm trying to get them all done in advance, but if it ends up being too much to do, I may skip the time that I'm traveling in Scotland because I don't want to record podcasts on my birthday trip. I love you all, but I also need a break sometimes. So I'm going to jump right in. The Books of Enoch are very, very important. I had some questions about these in the Bible study recently, and I remembered that ex post that had been put up and how this is such an important book around what we understand a lot about the mystical and the kind of celestial bodies and a lot of the stories and legends that we think come from the Bible, but actually come from the Book of Enoch. It's an amazing piece of history regarding all of what we know from the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, as well as church history. So I thought I would just dive into this little palate cleanser from the last most recent topics we've been doing. Everything begins with the four verses in the fifth chapter of Genesis. The chapter is a genealogy from Adam to Noah, ten generations and it runs on a formula. So there's a man lives, father's a son, lives some more years and dies. The formula breaks exactly once at the seventh name, Genesis 5, 21 through 24 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah 300 years and other sons and daughters. Thus all the sayings of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God then he was no more because God took him. And as a reminder since this is after the agricultural revolution, the Genesis gets written and put together its patrilineal lines instead of matrilineal lines. 365 years, the number of days in the solar year in a chapter where everyone else lives nine centuries. There's no death notice, it just says God took him. In the entire Hebrew Bible, only two human beings leave the world without dying and it's Enoch and Elijah. And Elijah's departure in 2 Kings 2 gets a chariot of fire and a witness. Enoch gets one verb. In the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the third and second centuries BCE rendered took him as metekken or transferred him.
