You know, I'm...

Joe Rogan (0:03)

Are we live? Right now we're live? Which ould probably cost a shitload of money. We're trying to figure, like, Riders on the Storm, Doom do doom doom doom. I think that would be the best way to open a podcast ever.

Too much though, right?

Wheeler Walker Jr. (0:16)

I'll talk to some people.

Joe Rogan (0:18)

Wheeler Walker Jr. Hey, are we on camera? We're on camera with the whole deal. You look fucking fantastic.

I found out about you through a mutual friend who turned me on to eat and pussy and kick an ass. I was a fan right away. Instantly.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (0:34)

Thanks, man. Are we on?

Joe Rogan (0:35)

We're on.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (0:35)

This is real.

Joe Rogan (0:37)

This is 100% legit.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (0:38)

Yeah, I love the show and I'm out here. We bought tickets for this weekend because we were going to do Coachella.

Too risque, they said. The goal was we were going to do it and they said it's too fucking x-rated. We can't fuck. What? It's fucking bullshit to me, man.

Joe Rogan (0:56)

You're too risque for Coachella. I thought Coachella was all about taking ecstasy.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:00)

That's what I fucking thought. You know, it's just, I don't know. Maybe that's their CSI just don't want me. It could have been the nice way of saying we don't want you.

Joe Rogan (1:07)

Let's just go over the playlist and perhaps we'll see where the hitches might be.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:10)

I think I may be with them.

Joe Rogan (1:12)

Redneck Shit, I don't have any problem with that. That's easy.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:15)

That's the name of the album.

Joe Rogan (1:15)

That's easy.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:16)

We're banned from Walmart, by the way.

Joe Rogan (1:18)

Well, that's a plus. Beer, Weed, Coochies.

That's fine. Family Tree. That's totally fine.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:24)

That's the dirtiest one, though. Oh, really?

Joe Rogan (1:26)

Can't fuck you off my mind. So you start getting a little edgy.

Fuck you, bitch.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:31)

That's the ballad.

Joe Rogan (1:32)

Drop a mouth, that's easy. Eating pussy, kicking ass, my favorite.

Fighting fucking farting.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:37)

That's fun.

Joe Rogan (1:38)

Better off beating off.

Sit on my face, and then the coupe de gras. Which one of you queers gonna suck my dick?

Wheeler Walker Jr. (1:45)

Hey, man. Shit happens.

Here's honestly what happened. My buddy Dave Cobb, he's a producer there, I actually met him through your buddy Sturgell. Actually, I didn't really meet him, but there's a bunch of articles that said Sturgell introduced me to him, so I'm just going with it.

Joe Rogan (2:09)

Why not? It's already a narrative.

Wheeler Walker Jr. (2:12)

Yeah, it helps.

And I'd kind of been kicking around Nashville for like about 15 years or so and with no success at all. I mean, just bullshit. And I'd been had my ass kicked my dick in the dirt, as they say. And then I was like, fuck it, this is going to be my last record. I was like, I'm going to, whatever they call it, drop the mic, put out a really fucking dirty ass record, the record I always wanted to make and not pull any punches. I was going to just pay for myself, own it myself. And I had a feeling this was going to get me banned from Nashville. And then I'd just leave because I'm fucking broke. So we made this fucking dirty record.

And it's probably about as dirty. And it's not, it wasn't even like I want to make the dirtiest country record. It was just like, what's happened now in Nashville, because it's turned into such fucking bullshit, is...

Joe Rogan (3:03)

Well, money's happened, right?

Wheeler Walker Jr. (3:05)

Well, what's happened is country radio is no longer country music.

Joe Rogan (3:10)

What is it?

Wheeler Walker Jr. (3:10)

It's, and I didn't know this anymore than you, because I don't listen to that dog shit.

But I actually heard the best explanation for it the other day, Steve Earle, who's a hero of mine. He was on this Chris Shifflett podcast, I don't know if you know who he is, he's a guitar player for Sioux Fighters. It's a good podcast where he interviews a lot of country musicians. He loves country. Oh, wow. And Steve Earle goes, you could hear him, he's kind of talking around, he goes, country today, you know, mainstream corporate country is, he goes, it's rap music for people. And he pauses, he's like, it's rap music for people. And he just, you keep hearing him pause, like, is he going to say it, he goes, it's rap people for, it's rap music for people who are scared of black people.
