Welcome to No Pun intended, presented by Club Fantasy. It is yet another of our Look Inside series. Today, we are ready to look at the Chicago Bears. In Ben Johnson's first season, things went really well for Chicago. Can he keep that momentum rolling into year two? Let's dig into it.
Welcome to No Pun Intended presented by Club Fantasy. It is another of our Look Inside series. As I mentioned, we are taking a look at the Chicago Bears. All summer long, we are giving each and every team their own fantasy football episode, where we will look at the highs, the lows, players we like, maybe players we don't like. It's time to turn our gaze to Chicago Ryan Weiss and the host, Josh Hudson with me. Josh, ready to look at those bears, the bears?

The bears, yeah, it's gonna be an interesting team because everybody loves them. Some Caleb Williams this year, you included.

There are some major red flags that I think people are just actively ignoring.

**Ryan Weiss** (1:20)
So maybe maybe we'll fight this episode. We'll see.
There's 116 last year. No changes. Ben Johnson's the coach, Ben Johnson's the play caller. I'm going to break down their starting lineup. We'll talk a little bit about our 10,000 foot view of the offense and then some of our favorite or maybe least favorite players. The projected starting lineup is Caleb Williams at quarterback. He is the QB 6 in fantasy. Deandre Swift at running back, RB 21 in fantasy. Kyle Manungai very close behind RB 34 Roshan Johnson is the third running back on this team, does not have an ADP. At wide receiver one, interesting. The depth chart has Luther Burden at one. He is the wide receiver 21 Rome Odunze is the wide receiver 30 in fantasy.
Kaleef Raymond comes over from Detroit. He is the wide receiver 112 At tight end, you got the rookie, well, second year guy now Colston Loveland, who had a great rookie year, tight end three in fantasy and forgotten Colcomet, tight end 47 in fantasy. We used to be a hater.

It's hard to hate him now. Now it's just piling on at this point, right?

**Ryan Weiss** (2:16)
Not even worth our time at this point.
So Josh, there were questions about what Ben Johnson could do. And obviously, things went pretty well. A playoff run in your very first year as a head coach.

**Josh Hudson** (2:27)
Yeah, and the offense play calling, all this stuff really did not change going from Detroit to Chicago. So quite frankly, I don't see it changing much at all in year two here. I think the only difference really is you're dealing with very young, talented players.
Young, talented players make a lot of mental errors.
And that to me is going to be the biggest sticking point when we're trying to diagnose and prognosticate what this Bears team can do in 2026, especially because they're playing a first place schedule now. Let's not forget about that, okay? They were playing a last place schedule last year, and it took a lot of Caleb Williams' heroics for them to get to the point of them getting into the playoffs and more importantly, advancing in the playoffs. So now it becomes the expectations are on. What do you do from here? The running black split is simple. It's Deandre Swift, it's Kyle Menungai, and nobody else fucking matters. The wide receiver position, it's Luther Burden, it's Rome Odunze, nobody else fucking matters. The tight end position, it's Colston Loveland, nobody else fucking matters. But again, Loveland, year two, Luther Burden, year two, Rome Odunze, year three, Caleb Williams, year three. There are no veterans there. There are no veterans there. DeAndre Swift is your veteran. And now, that's great for the running game.
But you're not throwing to the running backs the way that you did in Detroit. And I think that's a large reason why everybody and their mother are propping up Colston Loveland, because they think all those targets are going there. Which, I mean, I have him for over 100 targets, but he's still not a top three tight end for me.

And so, so much of this boils down to, what is Caleb Williams doing in the first three quarters of football games? Because we know what he's doing in the fourth quarter.

But those first three quarters, he's struggling. And now that you're moving Colston Loveland up the depth chart, now that you're moving Luther Burden up the depth chart, I don't know that you're going to get so many easy throws for those two guys that you did last year.
