Welcome to Ghost of a Podcast. I'm your host, Jessica Lanyadoo. I'm an astrologer, psychic medium, an animal communicator, and I'm going to give you your weekly horoscope and no bullshit mystical advice for living your very best life.
Hello, and welcome back to Ghost of a Podcast. This week, we're going to do something just a little bit different, where I answer a bunch of questions that I've gotten from y'all instead of doing one in-depth reading. This way, hopefully, I can get to more questions because I do love your questions. Keep on sending them in. My first question comes from NP., who asked me about Uranus in the Eighth House. The message says, have I come here to suffer? The last two years have been full of loss and abrupt shifts. I recently learned that Uranus in the Eighth House means this kind of chronic crisis is a way of life for individuals with this placement. How can I support myself better if my life will garner more tidal waves as I get older? NP was born March 5, 1991 at 10:49 a.m. in Chicago. And if you're looking at the video version of the chart with me, you may immediately notice that NP does not have Uranus in the Eighth House. And this is not an uncommon thing. Oftentimes, when I get questions from y'all about your charts, there is some sort of meaningful misunderstanding or misinterpretation that is occurring. Now, it is possible that NP simply uses a different house system. So I have an episode on the houses. I believe it's episode 111, if you want to check out the episode or read the transcript where I talk about and explain the different house systems. But if you use a different house system, the planets and their degrees will never change. Your natal aspects will never change. Your ascendant and mid-heaven will never change. However, all the other houses do change, and so you may have planets fall into different houses based on the house system that you use. I only and always use campinus houses. And so in the house system that I use, NP has Uranus very much in the 7th house. But I'm going to answer the question as well as talk a little bit about this misunderstanding. Now, when it comes to a planet like Uranus, it has to fall in a house. Uranus governs lots of things. It governs queerness, oddness, it governs innovation, the ways you're eccentric. It's a planet that is associated with disruptions, but the kind of disruptions that we need for real progress to occur. And like I said, it has to fall in one house or another. Like literally, it has to fall somewhere. There is no natal placement of Uranus, or honestly, any other planet in the zodiac, where a planet in a house equals a lifetime of suffering.
Zero percent. Like that doesn't exist. And if there is an astrologer, an astrology book, or worse, an astrology blog that tells you that it does, then I just want to say that is misinformation. Uranus in the eighth house is a perfectly lovely place for Uranus to be. Uranus in the eighth can give you kind of a little bit of a mixed feeling about merging. So some people really like casual sex or having sex and not necessarily having it be about really intense emotional connection. Now, you would want to look at a lot of other things in the birth chart to know whether or not that's the case. Some people with this placement have psychic experiences that kind of come up abruptly and then leave abruptly, or they can be really heady style psychic experiences. This placement is also known for having kind of weird stuff with money coming at you. So it could be money all of a sudden comes to you in random, unexpected, abrupt ways or leaves your life in similarly unexpected ways. This placement can also indicate that you're just a little eccentric, but nothing to do with suffering. Uranus really doesn't govern suffering. There are other planets that do. Uranus is not one of them. Now, when we go through things over the course of a couple of years, that's usually due to transits as opposed to our whole entire nature. This is where we want to look to where the planets are in the sky, and the relationship between that and the birth chart. Let's hang out with NP's chart. The first thing I can say is the past couple of years have been hard for NP because NP has Saturn at almost three degrees of Quarius, and so Pluto has been sitting on top of Saturn. That will bring up major issues and potentially really nihilistic feelings. It can feel like your survival mechanisms and your internal structure as a human being is just being thwarted. It's being attacked. That's a very challenging transit. So all of my Saturn in Aquarius, and in particular Saturn, the first several degrees of Aquarius babies have been going through this particularly challenging time. It has nothing to do with Uranus, and it happens to do with the Eighth House. But I want to stick to NP's question because NP is asking about Uranus, and having Uranus in the Seventh House as NP does according to the house system that I use would indicate that this is a person who has unpredictable relationships that might do really well by going into relationships with the idea that there's something to learn, there's an experience to share, and then they may start abruptly and stop abruptly. This often happens with Uranus in the Seventh, and in particular, NP also has a Uranus square to Venus, which would strengthen the indication of this. Relationships are not always kind of a straight line, and this is a very queer placement. Now, it could be gay, but I don't inherently mean gay. I just mean not heterotypical, not caboose on track just going in the pre-prescribed way. This is a queer placement. And so, Uranus in the Seventh and Uranus in the Eighth equally do not mean a life of suffering. And this very challenging Pluto transit that NP has been going through for the last couple of years is almost over. This transit will be pretty much over January of 2027, although October and November of 2027, it will come back for just a little minute. So to come right on back to the center of this question, Uranus in the Eighth House can have to do with abrupt losses and abrupt shifts.
