All right, how's it going, everybody? Thank you for stopping by. Today is Saturday, October 17th, and Scott Norriff of Komodo Capital and I are here to talk about what happened in Junior Mining this week. A bit of a change in pace, though, this week. We listened to what some of you said over the past week, that we've got a lot of random news here and there, and moves that happened for whatever uninteresting reasons, really. So we thought this week we'd try something different.
Instead of just the top three, best and top three worst performers overall, we're actually going to be using one of Mining Hub's options that lets you sort by companies that have had a drilling update or drill results. So drill specific week is what this is going to be. And just like before, these are not stock picks. We haven't selected those to talk about specifically. We're not recommending them. We're not promoting them. We're not doing a full analysis on any of those, nor are we providing any conclusions, right? We're not saying they're good or bad or anything like that. We're just doing the top three best and top three worst performers that have had any kind of drill related news or something like that. If you don't like the filters that we're using or what we're doing, let us know and we'll try to make it better for next week. And also, you can play around yourself with some of the parameters, the market cap, the volume and whatever they're trading at, the stock exchanges. You can play with all that for free on mininghub.com, who's also the sponsor of this weekly video. They're also the ones making it possible with the underlying technology.
With that out of the way, Scott, I had a joke last week. Now it's your turn, so don't tell me you came unprepared.
Scott Norriff (1:35)
Yeah, fully prepared this week, mate.
One for you. What's a miner's favorite type of music?
Antonio (1:45)
I don't know, rock and roll, heavy metal.
Scott Norriff (1:48)
It is rock and roll. Well done.
That's the first one we've got. Well done.
Antonio (1:54)
You got another one? I hope the other one is better.
Scott Norriff (1:56)
No, that's all I've got. Sorry.
Antonio (2:01)
Okay, then next week, you get to do another one next week. This one is a little low effort, so you do another one. No, rock and roll is actually a good joke.
It's good because even I can get it and the best jokes are the simplest ones. Jokes aside, this week was not one to be joking at all. It was a pretty bad week in the mining and metals markets, particularly for silver, which is down 6.5% in a week. Copper is down 2%, gold is a bit under a percent, but they're all in the red. The mining stock indices, so UGDX, JESALJ, CobbJ, they kind of amplified that move. All the major ones are down as well. Although I actually have a lithium name in the top three best performers this week, lithium is actually down pretty bad this week, down close to 17% while oil is climbing above $100.
Again, we listened to you though, so no macro rants anymore on my end. So Scott, I'll let you kick it off here. Give me the breakdown of the drill results that moved the Aussie market higher this week, if anything though, because it was a bad week.
Scott Norriff (3:02)
Yeah, look, and just reflecting on what you said, the filters that I'm using here is anything over a 15 million market cap and above $500,000 in volume. So for the best performers, and the best performers didn't move too much. The first one on the ASX, we've got Power Minerals and they reported some high-grade rarest results out of Brazil, gained a 2 this week, we've got Many Peaks, MPK is the ticker. They were up 5.3% and they reported some gold results out of their gold project in Cote Bois, and the third one this week is a producer, Alkane Resources, only up 0.7%.
And I think that reflects the overall market this week. And they essentially drilled under one of their projects is on care and maintenance, and it was a 1.6 kilometer hole. So yeah, not big movers, I think, you know, due to the macro dynamics of the week, but over to you, Antonio.
Antonio (4:12)
With that, that would have been a better joke, where you're like, you know, one of my best performers is actually up less than 1%.
You might have to play around with the filters and whatnot. That might give you better results there. It was, I mean, it was a bad week, absolutely. I do have some interesting stuff. So like best performer in Canada was Lithium Africa Corp, which we've talked about before, I've interviewed them too. They have their Springbok project in South Africa, it's in Northern Cape, though they have other projects across the continent as a whole. The stock is up 52% this week in the back of some assays. There was four meters at 2.6% of Lithium, but there's more to it. I'll say more words later on. Next up after that was a company that didn't have assays, but they had a drilling update instead, and that was Aurania Resources, so not Uranium, although it kind of sounds like that's what I'm saying. Aurania is an AU, Aurania.
