Hey babes, it's Paris Hilton. So I was checking my points balance in the Hilton Honors app the other day, and yeah, I've got about a billion, which feels excessive, even for me. Just kidding. You can never have too many Hilton Honors points, and I want to do something iconic this summer, so I'm giving away all my Paris points. Just find somewhere you've always wanted to stay, then go to my socials or Hilton's and tell me about it. Just make sure you're a Hilton Honors member and I might be sending you Paris points, because when you want points that make your summer even hotter, it matters where you stay.

What's going on, everybody? It's episode 586 of The Genius Life. Let's go.

The Genius Life.

What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to The Genius Life. Hope you're having a wonderful summer. This is a fantastic and timely episode for y'all in which I welcome back my good friend, Dr. Teo Soleymani. Dr. Soleymani is a board certified dermatologist. He's a fellowship trained skin cancer surgeon and facial reconstructive surgeon. He's one of the clearest voices I know on skin health because he lives at the intersection of aesthetics, oncology, surgery, and prevention. And this episode, friends, we cover it all. We talk skin cancer, sun exposure, anti-aging, sunscreen, retinoids, diet, metabolic health, acne, beef tallow, hair loss, minoxidil, finasteride, post-finasteride syndrome, and even one of the most maddening symptoms in all of medicine, chronic itch. We talk about why skin cancer is still rising despite living in the most sun-protected era ever. Why the sun is always bad narrative is way too simplistic. How your immune system and metabolic health show up on your skin, what actually works for aging skin, and why so much of the skin care world is more marketing than medicine. Teo also breaks down practical skin protocols anyone can use, including the fundamentals he believes matter most. This is a super practical myth-busting conversation about your body's largest organ, the one everybody sees first, but few of us truly understand. So listen all the way through to the end. You are definitely not going to miss a beat. And as always, please don't forget to share this episode with friends and loved ones that you think may benefit from it. And now with all that out of the way, let's rock with episode 586 Here we go. Teo Soleymani, what's going on? Welcome back to the show.

Teo Soleymani (2:56)

Thanks for having me, man. It's been a while, but I'm happy to be back and hopefully shed some insight on fundamentals on skin health, skin wellness, and just overall health and wellness.

Max Lugavere (3:08)

I love it. Well, you're the goat.

You are the best in the game when it comes to skin health. And we were just reflecting just for listeners get a sense. There are very few books written for the lay public on the topic of skin health. So that's something that to me is like very perplexing. It's a big paradox because skin is one of our largest organs, right?

Teo Soleymani (3:29)

It's the largest organ.

Max Lugavere (3:30)

The largest organ.

Teo Soleymani (3:32)

And the first organ you see.

Max Lugavere (3:33)

And the first organ you see.

Teo Soleymani (3:34)

The eyes, but yeah.

Max Lugavere (3:35)

There you go. So it's so crucially important. And yet I feel like it's an underserved topic.

Teo Soleymani (3:41)

Yeah. Yeah. I think so. I've written a lot of books and books chapters in the medical space and the surgical space. And then when you come to figure out what the average person can understand about skin, there isn't anything out there, not like that scratched my head. So my team and I decide to put together like a simple protocols book that I originally wrote for my patients and my practice. And I'm like, why don't we make this available to everyone? So we're giving it out for free. There's a hard hardcover version of it called Skin Protocols. But there's an ebook that's available completely for free for anybody who's interested. You can just shoot me a message and we'll send you the digital copy. It's basically how to take care of your skin, the fundamentals of skin and sun, how to understand the single most important thing of skin aging, which is sun exposure or the single most controllable thing.
