Stafford is under center.
Stafford is gonna sneak it. Stafford pushing forward, and good luck finding him in there. Rams are saying he's in, waiting for a signal, waiting for a signal, waiting for a signal. The 49ers are saying they stopped him, and they stopped him. A fourth down stop, inches to go, and the 49ers defense stands strong.
Brian Murphy (0:48)
How about that? The goal line stand in Australia. One of many highlights is the 49ers swamped the Rams 27 to 7, and gets us going into the NFL season. 49ers want to know, and every Tuesday at this time, our 49er Player Of The Week, what a great way to start with star defensive tackle and brand new 49er Osa Odigizua. We welcome him on the, oh, we don't have him. By the way, well, while I have you, buddy, is there an open for this or no, buddy? Oh, there is, so look at us, working out the early season kinks. Let me throw it to our open.
SPEAKER_1 (1:21)

And his mic is on.
Osa Odighizuwa (1:28)
That's a saccarone, baby.
SPEAKER_1 (1:30)

So there's your welcome. Yeah, this is the Murph part of Murph and Marcus. I'm a big old UCLA honk. It drives all the Bay Area listeners crazy, Osa.
Osa Odighizuwa (2:23)
So fours up, buddy, fours up. How are you doing?
Marcus Boushey (2:26)
What's up, Osa?
Osa Odighizuwa (2:28)
Doing good, man. How are you?
Brian Murphy (2:29)
We're good. We're good. I remember your brother playing at UCLA, too.
Osa Odighizuwa (2:33)
Yeah, yeah, it was a big part of it. I went there in the first place.
Brian Murphy (2:37)
Yeah, you were recruited by Jim Moore, correct?
Osa Odighizuwa (2:41)
Yep.
Brian Murphy (2:42)
Yeah. Well, are you are you keeping your eyes on what's going on right now with Coach Bob Chesney?
Osa Odighizuwa (2:54)
I know. I'm pretty sure they just beat Cal, correct?
Brian Murphy (2:57)
Yes. And San Diego State.
Osa Odighizuwa (3:00)
Nice. Nice. I didn't catch the last game.
Brian Murphy (3:05)
All right. Well, they did. They're 2-0. All right. Well, let's talk about you. You're a 49er now, man.
And let's start before we get to the big picture of the trade and acclimating to Northern California and the 49ers organization. Let's talk about Australia. How was the trip for you? Like all the preparation, the flight, the sleep. How did it all go?
Osa Odighizuwa (3:27)
Oh, man, I did a pretty good job with the flight. It was long, but I slept a good amount of time. Like I slept like 10 hours in my flight to the Amics. So it was pretty easy getting a jet skid. We landed in the morning, so I woke up like an hour or two before we landed. So it was like waking up in the morning, so we walked around the city.
It was nice. I think, I think, Coach Aaron did a really good job just getting us out there early so we could acclimate. And it was nice to just go out there and experience a little bit like of Australia during the week while also being able to get ready for the game. It was a dope experience.
Marcus Boushey (4:03)
Yeah, Osa, outside of the travel schedule, what was the biggest difference between playing a football game in Australia versus playing it here in the States?
Osa Odighizuwa (4:11)
Well, I mean, I feel like that grass was like more soccer grass than anything, but like, it was crazy just being like a day ahead. Like, you know, I'm like, wow, it's Friday right now, but this is the third day of my game on a Friday morning.
