TBTL: Too Beautiful To Live
October 8, 2026
Luke is dismayed about a photo of him that is being used to promote his upcoming appearance on the Omnibus podcast. Andrew also tries to help him come up with some good topics for that show.

So, Frederica, you read both verse and poetry. Perhaps the most significant in forming one's principles is that of the old prophet, who came down from the mount with tablets, bearing the Twelve Commandments, which our Lord has taught us to obey without fail.
Twelve Commandments.
Andrew Walsh (0:26)
Excuse me, but I believe there were only ten.
SPEAKER_3 (0:33)
Really?
SPEAKER_1 (0:35)
Only ten must be obeyed. Excellent. Well, then which two to take off?
Andrew Walsh (0:42)
TBTL!
SPEAKER_4 (0:48)
There's a sentence I never thought I'd say, but if you thought a sausage couldn't really hurt anyone, frankly, think again.
Andrew Walsh (0:54)
Hey Julia, can you say TBTL?
SPEAKER_5 (0:59)
T.
SPEAKER_3 (1:03)
T. L.
SPEAKER_5 (1:06)
Don't take this the wrong way, but you've just been kind of hanging around a lot lately, which isn't a bad thing, but it's also not a good thing.
SPEAKER_1 (1:17)
I love these guys. They make funny with their mouths.
Andrew Walsh (1:22)
Hello.
Luke Burbank (1:23)
Good morning and welcome everyone to a Thursday edition of TBTL, the show that just might be too beautiful to live.
SPEAKER_5 (1:29)
Isn't that for techno geeks with spreadsheet?
Luke Burbank (1:32)
My name is Luke Burbank. I am your host.
SPEAKER_5 (1:34)
It's a kind of magic.
Luke Burbank (1:35)
Coming to you from the Madrona Hill Studio, perched high above the mighty Columbia on an absolutely beautiful eighth day of October.
Andrew Walsh (1:46)
California got sunshine.
Luke Burbank (1:48)
And a blessed trucktober to all who celebrate October. The leaves are changing.
I took a picture of some plants that I have in a planter that star jasmine. And I went down to this nursery down one town over called Sugawa's. And I brought in a photo and I said, what on earth is going on with my star jasmine? And the woman working there said, that's what happens in the fall. Said, why are these leaves changing colors? She goes, well, the chlorophyll is going into the roots of the plant. And what's left in the leaves is red and orange. That's what happens in fall. And I said, oh, good point.
I Homer Simpson back into a hedge because that was the dumbest question of all time. This is going to be the smartest episode of all time of TBTL. This is episode 4832 in a collector's series.
SPEAKER_3 (2:46)
Let the fun begin.
Luke Burbank (2:49)
A guy from Everett, Washington went on a rampage at an airport and decided to steal a couple of different vehicles on the tarmac, including the thing that sucks out the toilet stuff from the airplane.
SPEAKER_5 (3:05)
Sky Jinx.
SPEAKER_3 (3:07)
Ooh.
Luke Burbank (3:09)
It's a Sky Jinx, ooh, and we'll talk about it also. Costco is paying something on the order of 14 million bucks for lying via email subject line.
Andrew Walsh (3:18)
Well, we know you're good at lying.
Luke Burbank (3:20)
And I'm in a similar situation with the Timex company.
We can talk about that. Also, it's a Thursday, aka a Blurr's Day. So the Blurr's Day messages. And we will say howdy doody to this guy, longest running cobro of the show, maybe best known for his fictions of the tall ships. Watch Showmanship, you got it. He's got it. He's Andrew Walsh and he's joining me right now. Good morning, my friend.
Andrew Walsh (3:41)
Good morning, Luke. I'm sorry I'm a little bit low energy today, lower energy today, but I actually blame you.
Luke Burbank (3:49)
Okay.
Andrew Walsh (3:50)
And I blame Mike Tomlin, to be honest with you. You see where I'm going with this? Can you fill in the dots, connect the dots?
SPEAKER_3 (3:56)
I've got an idea. Yeah.
Luke Burbank (3:58)
Are you back on that?
SPEAKER_3 (4:00)
Yeah.
Luke Burbank (4:00)
Are you back on your BS?
Andrew Walsh (4:02)
I hadn't played Minecraft in a while, but then specifically you and Mike came to mind, though, because I was like throwing darts or doing something. I don't know what I was going to listen to a podcast. I'm like, well, yeah, I should probably.
You were asking me a lot of questions after watching parts of the Mike Tomlin video where he was showing off his 12-year creation in Minecraft, which was just an incredibly impressive urban cityscape, right? And you were asking me, well, like, what does your world look like? Do you have anything even close to that? No, I'm just more of a working man out there, Luke.
Luke Burbank (4:34)
And you're playing the version where things can kill you, right?
Andrew Walsh (4:36)
And I'm working the mines, and I'm just trying to collect stuff. And so it occurred to me, I'm like, yeah, even my home base is, I probably started that a year and a half ago or something like that. And it's just still basically a hole in the ground. It was basically, I was living in a cave.
