Hey, welcome back to the channel. My name is Siim Land, and today we're doing another Instagram Q&A. If you want to ask me a question, then make sure you follow me on Instagram at Siimland. But do you want to slow down aging and live longer? If yes, then I'm looking for more people who want to reverse their biological clock. If you're interested, then email me the word health to info at siimland.com, and I'll send you the details. Do it! All right, first question, niacin timing to use. So when to use niacin, what's the best time? So niacin, vitamin B3, the main reason I would take it is because of the like NAD boosting effects, so it can raise your NAD levels. And of course, it has benefits for the cardiovascular disease and lowering cholesterol. So I personally would suggest that taking it in the morning is the best or around like morning to mid afternoon or before noon, because from an NAD side, then you need to boost or the best time to boost your NAD levels is during the or the beginning of the active phase, which for humans is in the morning. So there are some studies showing that in mice, at least boosting their NAD levels during their, let's say, rest phase actually has negative effects on their health, whereas boosting it in the beginning of the active phase, which for them is at nighttime, is beneficial for health and improving their survival. So that's why I think that it's better to take all the, anything that boosts your NAD is better to take it in the beginning of the active phase. So that includes NMN, niacinamide, niacin, and vitamin B3 or just any other vitamin B complex as well. Better to take it in the beginning of your active phase, which is for most people is going to be in the morning or around like afternoon. Next question, is glycine heat resistant? Can I make syrup with it, for example? So I think glycine should be heat resistant because like gelatin, the gelatin powder that you use to make jello with that is heat resistant and it doesn't lose your glycine, it actually still contains the glycine. So, yeah, I would imagine that the glycine supplement is also heat resistant, at least in terms of like if you put it into teas or coffees, it's not going to like break it down or anything.
Using it with syrup, I don't know, especially how you make syrup, or I don't know the entire steps of making syrup, but it does involve high temperature heating as well. So I would maybe be less careful or more careful with that.
And I would try to like just add it into maybe teas or coffees. Next question, is whey protein safe for autoimmune?
So, of course, you need to consult your doctor or other medical provider because autoimmune issues are very specific and very context dependent, depends a lot on the individual and what's their specific autoimmunity and what is triggering it, what is the cause of that. So generally, there is some potential for whey protein and any other dairy protein to trigger actually autoimmunity, especially casein. So casein is more dangerous for autoimmunity than whey protein. But whey protein also has some of these beneficial compounds and, let's say, immunoregulatory compounds and proteins as well. So actually, whey protein at least helps with diabetes in certain extent by helping to produce insulin. And it may have some immunoboosting effects as well. But yeah, the autoimmunity is just a complex situation and very context dependent. So it depends on you as an individual and whether or not dairy triggers you, like whether or not dairy does trigger your autoimmunity. So I wouldn't like say a specific answer if it is safe or not. So it depends a lot on you specifically. If you want to truly know the state of your health and disease risk, then check out Insight Tracker. So, yes, carbohydrates do help with creatine absorption, and a lot of the creatine supplements may have actually added carbohydrates in there, like dextrose and stuff like that. I think that you don't necessarily need to add carbohydrates. Like salt is actually also one of the transporters for the creatine absorption. So, yeah, like you don't need to even add carbohydrates. You can just take like a little bit of salt as well, if you prefer that way. I think that like adding dextrose probably isn't the healthiest way to get the creatine in, and you don't necessarily need to do that. You can even take creatine before the workout, and that's going to be fine. You can take creatine like any other time as well. It doesn't have to be immediately after the training, although the research suggests that it's the most optimal way to do so. I personally take the creatine in the morning before my workout, after the workout, like the amount of carbohydrates. It probably doesn't have to be a lot. You just need to like raise insulin to help with that. So like even like five or ten grams would probably suffice. Next question, is morning sunlight through a window as good as direct exposure?
