It's usually inhaled, like through the nose. So people who are exposed to like black mold will have crazy neurological symptoms.

And this mold can get stuck in your nose. And just like you can get dysbiosis in your gut, you can get dysbiosis in your nose.

And so if you have better firing of these neuronal cells because they have better mitochondrial function, they can produce better energy, then your emotion should overall be better, and you could accomplish more. You can get your goals done better. Your sleep should be better. Everything should be better. You shouldn't have to be crawling out of bed the next day because you're in so much pain.

Welcome to the Body Mind Empowerment Podcast. I'm your host Siim Land. And today we have Jacob Gordon as our guest.

He's a biohacker, a coach, and he runs the website mybiohack.com, where he shares cutting edge science about optimizing yourself. Jacob, I want to welcome you to the show.

Jacob Gordon (1:10)

Thank you very much for having me, Siim. Pleasure to be here.

Siim Land (1:13)

Yeah, I definitely love your blog and website. It's full of a ton of valuable information I believe everyone can use. So maybe can you tell us a little bit about, you know, what got you into biohacking and how you started your website?

Jacob Gordon (1:27)

Well, my website, mybiohack.com was originally created because I had no resources myself. But let me go back a little bit and talk about my story and how this all came to, came to being a viable product. So I grew up in a moldy house, but I was never, never had any problems. Just like normal, just a normal kid, I was, I was very creative until I got a couple of concussions, a TBI.

But that knocked off my creativity, but I still held on as a normal kid. And it wasn't until college when I attended film school, naturally as a creative person, that's what I did. I always wanted to be a producer, so I just went into film school and sound design and studied that aspect. But I had a whole health breakdown during this time. My health broke down completely and I went to see tons of top doctors. Ones that you'd expect to know everything. I went to doctors in Harvard, at Tufts University, all these major players that all I got was a sleeping pill prescription and a diagnosis with IBS, which I've heard way too many times with clients and just happening too much around now.

So, I had to take it upon myself to heal myself. And I took on the approach that clicked the most with me, which is essentially epigenetics and neuromunology. And it took a lot of studying on my part to figure it out. But epigenetics is more of the world of studying how the environment turns on and off your genes. So, essentially the genes that you're born with aren't your destiny. And you can change how they interact and express what proteins you make in the body.

And then also neuromunology, how the central nervous system and all the nerves interact with the immune system. And then combining this all together with the trillions of cells that we have and the microbiomes all over our body, how they all interact, and figuring out, taking that puzzle and putting them all together and essentially working on my body. And I found out later that I had biomarkers for something called Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, that people also called SIRS. And it happens after you've been exposed to a water damaged building.

Or you can also get it from a tick bite or a spider bite from Lyme.

It's usually inhaled, like through the nose. So people who are exposed to like black mold will have crazy neurological symptoms. And this mold can get stuck in your nose. And just like you can get dysbiosis in your gut, you can get dysbiosis in your nose. And if your bacteria and the other microbiota in your nose don't take care of whatever infections in there, it can constantly wreak havoc on your brain. Because your whole basal ganglia and hypothalamus and everything that controls your hormone production is essentially right behind your nose. Your hippocampus is right there too. So a lot can get, a lot of problems can happen with that. And so I had the biomarkers that showed for chronic inflammatory response syndrome. And this is something that was discovered by a doctor named Richie Shoemaker.
