I want all of you to take a moment, close your eyes and think of the best sporting event that you've ever attended. That instead of just sitting on your couch, watching on television, you actually went to the game. For me, I was in college, Steph Curry Davidson was playing the NCAA tournament against Georgetown in Raleigh. It was like Patrick Ewing Jr, all these like 6'11 guys versus Steph Curry and these 6'7 dudes. And I was like, I have to go see this. I have to go see the guy that is launching shots from half court, even if they have no chance to win. And guess what? They won. And it was so much better because I was actually there versus sitting at home. And you can be there in the action by using game time. College football is coming up, NFL preseason to watch your favorite rookies. It's all available here on game time. It's not just that. Like I am scrolling to see what is available this weekend in my area. I can go see Hilary Duff if I want to or the dirty Govnas. I mean, whatever you want, it's here on game time. So get your friends together, get your tickets and tell them it's game time. Download, yes, the game time app. Create an account and use code fantasy for $20 off your first purchase. Terms apply, again, create an account and redeem the code F-A-N-T-A-S-Y for $20 off. Find college football and NFL matchups on game time and download the app today. Oh yes, welcome to week six.
Stats vs Film, where we take everything that happened this past Sunday on the field, watching every single game, and compare that to the spreadsheets, to the underlying metrics, and to the data to help you bully your league mates and your friends in your matchups this weekend. And as always, this show is presented by Farmers Insurance. Boys, let's get this started. Hayden Winks and Matt Harmon joining us every single time. And we kick things off with the primetime games that we haven't discussed yet. The Monday Night Football, the winning Buffalo Bills here.
Matt, I saw you have a very cordial and good conversation with our friend of the show, Jacobs Anderson, about what the heck is happening to Dalton Kincaid at this moment. Because over the last two weeks, he has been completely unusable. So the people out there want to know, when will Dalton Kincaid be usable again?
Matt Harmon (2:18)
It's a good question. Jacobs' theory, which I think does make sense, is that you do need like more of a man-beating vertical presence to have the 13-personnel stuff really be activated well.
And that's obviously been an issue these last few weeks with DJ Moore in and out of the lineup and not playing on Monday night. And I mean, I engage with it because I think that makes complete sense. Like this follows with my priors, where like I think the 13-personnel thing, we talked about it in the off season, maybe not we, the three of us, but the royal we talked about is like, you just push the 13-personnel button and you start to get efficient offense. But that's not how it works, because usually you're bringing your three slowest players onto the field to try to create vertical shot plays, which works if Dalton Kincaid obviously is operating as one of those vertical guys. But when the single receiver you're bringing in there is Keon Coleman, it just doesn't make a ton of sense to run the 13-personnel, because he's also a guy that, you know, he faded away last time. I know he had the slot touchdown there, which was mostly the design of the play, why he was able to get open and everything. I said to Hayden on our recap show, Hayden could have run that route and scored a touchdown for Keon Coleman's play there. But I mean, you got some bursts to you. So, you know, there is that. But I mean, Keon Coleman is a guy they'd almost been using in some tight end type of ways. So you can't really get that 13-personnel going when it's Keon Coleman is the single receiver, even Josh Palmer not available for them last night. So I think that's part of the reason why Kincaid has faded away here. After the first two weeks, they were using a ton of 13, and they were having some real effectiveness out of it.
Hayden Winks (3:55)
I will say with Kincaid, the Bills offense went super run-heavy. And I think that's by design against the Rams defense that is kind of allowing that to happen. They had a lot of success. And then when they were dropping back to pass, Josh Allen has a career high in scramble yards. And that was obviously very effective. So I think part of it was just like, whatever is working is working. The Rams have been very good against fantasy tight ends this season on top of that. He was out there for a season high of 76% routes, as Daigle mentioned on the screen right there. He did have the two point conversion. So I don't want to defend Dalton Kincaid. I think that I got maybe a little bit too optimistic early on in the season. But I think that he's going to be better than his last couple results here. And even again today, Joe Brady, I know he said this last week, but he kind of doubled down on it. I have not gotten Dalton Kincaid enough work. Josh Allen also knows that as well. He's not going to get as much screen stuff. There's a lot more competition, especially at the goal line for Kincaid because of how good their run game is. So he's not going to reach the heights of a top five fantasy tight end. But the rest of the season, could he be the tight end eight? I think that's still well within the range of outcomes.
