Hey, welcome to the stream. My name is Teemu Arina. That was the trailer of 2020 BiOacker Summit. And we're having BiOacker Summit again this year, three and four of June in Helsinki, Finland. If you go to biohackersummit.com, you can book your ticket. The topic will be reversing aging, extending health span. Basically, we will be diving deep into how you can optimize your, not just lifespan, but health span, meaning healthy years in your life.
And that deals with all the things that you can do preventively right now with diet and lifestyle and exercise and so on.
Basically, just like on the website, we're talking about it today, 27% of population live with multiple chronic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, respiratory diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative diseases. If you live older than 65, the number goes up to 64%.
And we have been all told this year that if you're part of the risk group, you're more likely to get issues with whatever you might be catching that is going around. And that getting out of a risk group makes a lot of sense. And that's where lifestyle optimization comes into play. So poor lifestyle is one of the primary risk factors for all chronic diseases. For example, your likelihood of being hospitalized goes up if you are obese. And currently most European countries have more than 60% of the population overweight and 20% are sickly obese. And these are metabolic conditions that can be reversed with diet and exercise and lifestyle changes.
You know, anything from nutrition and exercise, sleeping enough, managing stress and all of that. So when it comes to living long and healthy, it's very important to look at what you do from one day to another. And we always look at centurions, people who live over a hundred years old, what are they doing? Like people who live in, let's say, some small Greek islands or the coast of Italy or in Okinawa, in Japan or Florida, these so-called blue zones, what are those people doing? What is kind of the trick here? And it really all boils down to dietary interventions, not so hectic lifestyle, I guess, meeting friends, enough adequate amount of sunshine and all these things that we can also describe in a way as biohacking, if you become conscious about it. But with biohacking, we believe that you can push the envelope a little bit further, that you can have healthy years in your life without technological or medical interventions too early.
And basically living a fulfilling life, getting things done that you really want to do and live long and prosper and die with your boots on. So today, I have, of course, some of the top biohacking field experts who are also focusing on health in the show. So Siim Land was behind his recent book, for example, Stronger by Stress, and he has written several other ones, including Mineral Fix and Immunity Fix. And I think there is a new book, something about winning. Siim can probably tell what's up. And I also have the co-author of mine, of the Bikers Handbook, Dr. Olli Sovijärvi, jumping in. So we're going to be diving deep into how to live long and prosper.
What are the latest science and tips and tricks? And if you have any questions, please type right now into the chat. I see there's already Saludos from Chile coming. So yeah, I mean, type in, put on the chat on Bikers Summit YouTube channel or Siim Land's YouTube channel or Facebook channels, wherever you are. Just type in how you're doing. How do you personally optimize your healthspan?
What are the top things? What do you want to know from us? We're going to be with you for the next hour. And if this topic is close to your heart, I recommend you to sign up right now for Bikers Summit. 3 and 4 of June in Helsinki, Finland. If you are thinking about restrictions, no restrictions. Finland is removing restrictions pretty much by the end of this month.
And whatever the changes might be in the epidemiological situation, we have all the measures in place to run our event at full speed, taking everything into consideration. But right now it seems like most of the restrictions will be on. So, all right, let's bring on our guests and experts today. Siim Land, what's up, man? What was the new book that you made?
Siim Land (5:20)
Well, the new book is Win. It's going to be talking about physical performance and fitness.
It's mostly structured around let's say peak performance for athletes and competitors, but there's basically a lot of practical information for regular people as well who just want to get in shape or just want to perform better in their physical performance like any kind of sport like cardio, earlier sports, resistance training, great sports, it's going to cover all about hydration, supplementation, nutrition, exercise, recovery, sleep, and a lot of things like pre-cooling before exercise, pre-hydrating with salt before exercise, how that dramatically improves performance, and sauna is cold, everything. I think that's one of the most comprehensive fitness athletic books that I've read at least.
