Hey, welcome back to the channel. My name is Siim Land and in this video we're gonna talk about what are the best things you can do to improve your focus and concentration. So basically I'm gonna be ranking different kinds of activities or supplements that you can use to just, you know, become more focused when you're working and get more things done. Click like and subscribe as well for future videos about optimizing your health and performance. All right, so this is the software again, God Tier, Goo Tier, OK Tier, Bad Tier and Shit Tier.
These are the activities or the things that I'll be ranking and I'll just, you know, start picking them randomly for what things are good for improving concentration and focus. So the first thing we'll pick here for me is the do-do list which a lot of people do use to put things down on a notepad to, you know, what they need to do. And I personally don't have like a specific to-do list, although I like I use a calendar for just meetings and stuff. I don't use like a specific to-do list. I do think that it can be for sure effective because, you know, most people don't have that good memories. They don't remember what are the things that they need to do and having something like a piece of paper that tells them, you know, what you need to do, etc. can actually be a good way to just become more focused on the things that you need to do and you don't become distracted, so to say. So I'll put this into a good tier because I do find value in just writing things down and using them.
Next up, meditation, which is, you know, a mindfulness practice and trains the brain in many other ways. Obviously, when you are meditating, then you're not really focused on, you know, anything besides just the present moment and what goes on in your body. But it does have a profound effect on improving your focus outside of the meditation practice. So it just, you know, increases gray matter, helps with neuroplasticity, which changes your brain to become more focused and become less distracted. So I think meditation is probably the god tier, one of the best things you can do to just improve your overall focus and productivity in general. And it's a very useful tool, a very simple one as well. And next up is going to be multitasking, which, you know, a lot of people think that they are very good at multitasking, or they're able to do many things at once.
But the research says the opposite. And I think that when you feel like you're multitasking, or you're being successful at multitasking, then you're not really being that efficient with any of the things that you're doing. So I think multitasking is kind of the shit tier when it comes to focus and concentration. You would much rather want to just focus on the one thing that you're doing, and then switch over to the next task, as opposed to trying to do all those things at once. You can accomplish basically everything, but you can't do it all at once. You need to kind of go from one task to the other one, which is the more effective way of doing it.
Chocolate. So this is at least when I was in school, like the teacher said, each time chocolate before an exam, because it helps with the brain function, which I'm not sure precisely depends on the chocolate. Maybe like the regular milk chocolate probably doesn't do that at all. Maybe like the dark chocolate, anything above like 85 percent. It has like some caffeine, there's polyphenols and magnesium and theobromine, which does improve brain function and cognition. And it may help with the small aspects of focus because it does raise like dopamine as well, which is important for maintaining like attention and being motivated to do the thing that you're doing. So in that sense, it can help with the concentration and focus as well, or like task performance. So I'll put this into good here, like a dark chocolate is pretty good. In small amounts can be good for that as a productivity snack.
