We spent so much time focusing on fantasy football drafts that we forget that the majority of fantasy football championships are actually won through the waiver wire. And Joey Wright and I, we have already gone through all of the week one matchups, helping you find the best players that you need to target heading into week two.

And Joey, what we did is we each listed all of our favorite players, our favorite waiver wire targets, and we had a consensus as the number one guy to be targeting in your fantasy drafts, Kaelin Black. Talk to me a little bit about why Kaelin Black should be that priority guy that fantasy managers should be looking at heading into week two.

Joey Wright (0:43)

Yeah, I mean, if you watch the game against the Rams, he looked absolutely electric. 15 total touches for 70 yards. So he's got a little bit of standalone value. I know he's playing behind Christian McCaffrey, but it does look like they want to give McCaffrey a little bit of a break. Now, I don't want to talk about the bad side of this, that if McCaffrey were to go down, I think he would be a top 10 running back rest of the season. He looked absolutely fantastic. Just straight out the gates. What you'd want to see. We've seen the San Francisco running backs step up when they need to.

But yeah, black standalone value already. Plus, you know, if something happens, it was definitely be my number one target this week.

Dave Kluge (1:20)

Yeah, this kind of feels like a Blake Corum or like years ago, like an AJ. Dylan, like these guys are pretty rare that have a little bit of standalone value where they're getting 30, 40 percent of the touches, but also the elite contingent upside if the guy ahead of them were to go down. Now, I talked about Kailin Black a lot this spring. We do the rookie guide over here at Footballguys, and I do all of the running back scouting. And Roman Hemby was a guy who was getting a lot of buzz. You know, the lead running back on that championship winning Indiana team. And I remember when I was watching these Indiana games, just thinking like, Kailin Black is a better running back, and this guy should have been getting the touches over Roman Hemby all along. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch agreed. They took him on day two, and he just looks like a San Francisco running back, like shot out of a cannon every single time he touches the ball. So I think this is the type of guy that like, if you have waiver priority, and you're sitting on that number one white waiver priority, you can use that on a guy like Black. But Joey, let's talk through FAB real quickly. Let's say you've got $100 in FAB.

You know, you're in your standard league, let's say five to seven bench spots. You want to add one of these lottery ticket running backs. What do you think is an appropriate amount? Do you think 25, 30% of your FAB or do you think that's a little bit too lofty?

Joey Wright (2:26)

On Cale and Black, I would not mind going 25 to 30% of your budget. I do think that if he has this amount of value to go week to week to get you 7 to 12 If he would have fallen in the end zone, he would have been like, what, a top 15 running back this week.

So when you see that on the field, like you kind of have to buy into it a little bit. So, yeah, I don't think 25 or 30% of your FAB is out of the realm of possibilities at all. Like you should probably spend that.

Dave Kluge (2:50)

And if you pick him up and he doesn't have the same number that he had in week one, don't drop him either because there is contingent upside here that you want to keep him stashed for. You know, he has firmly entrenched himself as one of the most valuable handcuffed running backs in fantasy football. But Joey, we've got a lot more players to discuss. We've got 28 names on today's list and we're going to move through the rest of them a little bit quicker, spending some time on the guys up top to really kind of peel back the layers there and then rapid fire through all of those deep league stashes that we'll be looking at. But before we get into all that, give us a thumbs up on YouTube and leave us a comment. Let us know if there's somebody that we missed or somebody that you did agree with. We've got a lot of football to be discussing over the next 17 weeks here and are thrilled that you, the audience, will be taking that time to hang out with us. If you're listening on Apple Podcasts, leave us a review. I say it all the time, but it is the best way to help the show grow. Just takes five seconds to just let us know what you think about the show, means the world to us and helps the show grow. But let's go into the next one, Joey. We've kind of got this cluster up next of wide receivers that all had pretty solid week ones, so I'm just going to list all of these guys off together. We've got Devon Vailay, Adonai Mitchell, Denzel Boston, and Caleb Douglas. And we've got some minor disagreements on Devon Vailay and Adonai Mitchell, but we both have them as top four waiver priority pickups. So let's talk about those two first. Devon Vailay, we actually are in exact agreement. We've got to make the number two guy behind Kailin Black. So talk to me a little bit about Devon Vailay and why he should be a priority target this week as well. Yeah.
