Thank you.
Joe Rogan (0:14)
My man brought 18-year-old...
Ross Edgley (0:19)
That's good.
SPEAKER_1 (0:20)
Whoo, that's the real deal.
Joe Rogan (0:21)
18-year-old single malt scotch whiskey.
Ross Edgley (0:26)
That's smoky.
Joe Rogan (0:27)
That's delicious.
SPEAKER_5 (0:27)
That's smoky.
Joe Rogan (0:29)
I had a... This is a true story. I had a deal set up for a whiskey deal. Like they wanted to do... You know, they do these things like with celebrities. And I was like, well, we got a lot of money. I guess I could do it. All right, let's do it. And so they said that they could help me like design the whiskey. I'm like, oh, that'd be really cool. So first I wanted to do it with Buffalo Trace, but Buffalo Trace was like, look, we love you. But the reality is our whiskey takes like eight years for a barrel, period. Like this is the only way they do it. Oh, that makes sense. That's why it's so good. Okay, that makes sense. So I tried this whiskey and I was like, oh, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. I gave it to my friends. Like it's pretty good. And then I fucked up and I had some 18 year old scotch and it was so good. I'm like, I can't lie.
If I'll say this is my favorite whiskey, but that will be a lie. Cause this is so much better.
There's no substitute for time. No, there's no substitute for time in those barrels.
Ross Edgley (1:29)
That tastes like Scotland as well, doesn't it?
Joe Rogan (1:31)
I remember one of the writers, when I was on news radio, he exposed me to this stuff. He said, do you like whiskey? I'm like, it's okay. It's kind of nasty. You just do it to get a buzz, right? He's like, no, no, no, you got to like. He was like very specific. You have like a large cube of ice. And he's like, come on, let me buy you a whiskey. It's like a $200 whiskey. I'm like, what? $200 for a fucking glass? He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Trust me, trust me.
And so he bought me this glass. I was like, oh, oh, OK.
Ross Edgley (1:56)
It was 200 pounds.
Joe Rogan (1:58)
It's a different thing.
Ross Edgley (1:59)
It's a different thing.
Joe Rogan (2:00)
If you drink a 20 year old whiskey, it's a very different thing. So it cost me who knows how much money because I got to get out of the deal. And they're like, what? And I was like, no, like, I can't lie. I can't lie and say this is my favorite.
Ross Edgley (2:15)
I respect that.
Joe Rogan (2:17)
I could if I was poor. Look, if I was broke, I could lie, but I have a lot of money. And I'm like, I'm not lying.
Ross Edgley (2:22)
To the same, to tea and whiskey, I respect that.
Joe Rogan (2:24)
Because this is, they figured it out.
Like, the Irish and the Scotch, the Scots, they figured it out. In Scotland, this is like a religious thing.
Ross Edgley (2:35)
Yeah, for sure. They don't fuck around. For sure.
Joe Rogan (2:37)
You get some really old Scotch, man, really old Scotch whiskey has a very distinct taste. And they're willing to wait fucking 18 years to get that taste. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_5 (2:51)
That just reminds me of Scotland.
Joe Rogan (2:52)
We had to stop the podcast before the podcast even started because we were talking about so much cool shit. I'm like, I'm going to leave the room because I don't want us to miss any of this. So first of all, you were telling me you swam around 60 hours in Loch Ness.
Ross Edgley (3:08)
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Rogan (3:08)
Speaking of Scotland.
Ross Edgley (3:09)
Oh, because this is strange because obviously it was seven years ago now when we caught up when I swam around Great Britain. And then since then...
Joe Rogan (3:15)
God, that was seven years ago.
Ross Edgley (3:17)
Weird, right? And then now, I've just been on this kind of strange career trajectory, if you can call it a career in inverted commas. So we did a 60 hour nonstop swim in Loch Ness.
Was going well, so it was all for ocean conservation. We raised so much money, it was amazing. It was going well up until the 60 hour point. Started hallucinating, started seeing things. Basically, the only way I can describe it is you're looking through the eye of a needle. It's just getting smaller and smaller and smaller. And then it just went completely black. It just went completely dark.
