The Joe Rogan Experience.

Trained by day, Joe Rogan Podcast by night, all day.
Ron White (0:14)
I talked to him a little on the green room, and then I thought he had a pretty good set.
Joe Rogan (0:19)
He's funny. Matt's funny. Matt Raff is very funny. What the fuck's going on?
Ron White (0:23)
I don't get fucking crowd work.
Joe Rogan (0:25)
I mean, it's not my thing, but I get it. You know, it's a tough skill. Some people are really good at it.
Ron White (0:31)
I guess they are, but I won't let my opening act do it.
Joe Rogan (0:34)
Oh, it becomes a problem.
Ron White (0:35)
Because then they feel like they can talk to me, which they cannot.
Joe Rogan (0:38)
Yes.
Ron White (0:39)
Because I just, I always looked at it as a time killer back when I had 41 minutes, but I was supposed to do 45 minutes. And I'm like, I gotta talk to these fucking hayseeds for four minutes and get this thing wrapped up. But once I had the jokes, you know, I just do the fucking jokes.
Joe Rogan (0:56)
Yeah. I mean, I don't knock it.
It's cool. It's a different thing. It's a different thing. It's it's relies on a very strong improvisational muscle because like you're under the gun. Come up with something funny to say. But it is always funnier because it's under the gun than it would be in a normal circumstance. Like the things that you're saying.
Ron White (1:15)
But you can never use it again. I mean, I mean, you can use the skill all the time. I mean, I guess some people are that good at it.
Joe Rogan (1:21)
Ingram's really good at it. Rick Ingram, he's got a lot of like built in stuff, like material he could pull out to him because he does it so often.
SPEAKER_2 (1:28)
Oh, yeah, so kind of blend the two together.
Joe Rogan (1:31)
Yeah, he seamlessly integrates the two of them together. He's really good at it.
Jay, Big Jay, Big Jay Okerson, he's really good at it. He's really good at it because he knows how to hold a moment. Yeah, he knows how to hold like when someone says something ridiculous, he knows how to pause, he knows how to like, he's got great storytelling.
Ron White (1:49)
Yeah, he's a nice guy too.
Joe Rogan (1:50)
He's a great guy, but he also is a great comic. Like he just does funny stand up comedy on top of that. So it's like, yeah, the crowd work is nice, but it's not the only thing he does. Whereas some people, that's their whole thing.
Ron White (2:01)
Well, I hear these young comics at the club, I gotta work on my crowd work.
SPEAKER_2 (2:05)
I gotta work on my crowd work.
Ron White (2:06)
I'm like, well, you don't, but...
Joe Rogan (2:07)
Is your Pat O'Neill's joke about that? I don't want to give it up on the air, but it's really hilarious. He's funny, man.
That guy's a joke machine. Pat O'Neill.
Ron White (2:17)
I think Pat is, you know, I had him on my show too, right after I saw him on Kill Tony.
Joe Rogan (2:22)
So funny.
Ron White (2:23)
And you know, it's amazing. Kill Tony, what was the kid's name that opened last night?
Oh, you weren't there Monday night. I was there Monday night. The young kid, he's from Alabama. Do you know who I'm talking about?
Joe Rogan (2:37)
I do know. He just got the golden ticket on Kill Tony.
Ron White (2:40)
When I was hosting. And you were there that night.
Joe Rogan (2:42)
Let me check, Tony. Find out.
It might not have been aired yet, as it is. Fuck the kid's hilarious. He works at the club too. Cool kid too. And you know, I was living in Alabama, decided to take a chance. Brent Reed.
Ron White (2:57)
Yeah, Brent Reed.
Joe Rogan (2:57)
He's opening for me tonight. Funny motherfucker. And he was saying, that's right, because he was saying, like you said after you saw him on Kill Tony, hey, I'd like to have you open for me. And he was like, holy fucking shit, man.
SPEAKER_6 (3:08)
He had called his dad. He's like, I'm fucking hoping for Ron White.
Joe Rogan (3:14)
His dad was giving him shit about his comedy career.
Ron White (3:19)
Stand-up is not as funny as it used to be to me. It's very, very rare that I'll sit and watch somebody do stand-up and laugh out loud if I'm up on the balcony.
